I ordered a new 4720 Cab for the 13 acres that I have (it has not come in yet). But I just bought 220 acres 36 miles north of my home. I will be using the 220 acres for recreational purposes. Originally I wanted the biggest tractor with a hydro trans, that is why I went with the 4720. Now, I figured that it would make more sense to get a 6420 with the IVT Trans. since I could use it for both the 13 and 220 acres and since the 6420 is 12000 lbs (with a FEL) I could trailer it back and forth, I will only use it twice a year on the 13 acres. (Also, I will be buying a D6 N Caterpillar bulldozer for the 220 acres) The dealer discounted 10% off the 4720 cab. (Since, it is a new model coming out). I figured there would be a bigger discount on a 6420 since it has been around for a while and it is around 70,000 dollars.
Sorry for the long post. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
I live in Dallas
Thank you
George

You should be able to at least get 15% off of the list. 20% would be a pretty good deal. The 6420 is a great tractor. You will love it. What are you using your land for?

George,
I just purchased a 4720 w/cab & loader. I bought it at 15% off list. You will love the 6420. I have the 6410 MFWD w/cab & 640 loader. It has enough HP to do just about everything. It has been an excellent tractor.

I ended up with a 4720 and a 5525 cab. I almost bought a 6415 cab instead of the 5525 cab, but I liked the size of the 5525 better. The 6415 is a much larger tractor. As I am sure you know the 6420 is pretty close to the 6415, but nicer.

What are you doing with the tractors will help.

The HST is very nice. The 4720 just can't handle some of the larger implements like a big mower. I wanted a batwing style mower, and I had to step up to the 5525 to do that.

As a reference my 5525 cab 4wd power reverser was $50K sticker give or take and I got it for $41K. The 6415 I was looking at was like $47K (didn't ask the sticker price).

One nice thing about having a smaller tractor (5525 vs 64xx) is that it is easier to trailer around. When mowing around trees, it is easier to get the HX15 mower up under the trees, etc. I was out mowing for a couple hours this morning in my 5525 (still clearing 40 acres or so) and it really is a nice machine. I wish the turning radius was better, but oh well - I had to have 4wd!
