New 50-70hp Utility tractor

That's my budget because with most of the new tractors it'll keep me within the monthly payment because of the good interest rates, that's my real budget.

If I go used I'll be more in the $20k range

Wow, I haven't checked in a while but what are interest rates on tractors these days if you don't go through the dealer? 10-15% The zero percent does not make them less expensive, but the long term financing can lower your monthly.

My suggestion, but used and get about what you are looking at. If it works out and you chose the right sized unit, then either keep it or sell it and get a new one. If it turns out to not work out for you or you wished you had something different, you can likely get a LOT of your money back if not more and get what you now know you need. If you end up getting the wrong one and trade it or sell it if you buy new, you will take a small bath. I'm stuck with the little BX unless I want to set 2 grand or so on fire. Just my two cents....

My first tractor when I bought my 100 acres in 2009 was a 1974 International Harvestor 70hp 2wd. Great smooth old running tractor. Bought it for $5,500 and could easily sell it for $6,500, but I am keeping it cause it is handy to have another 3 point hitch around LOL. I drive a 10 year old truck but I have 3 tractors LOL.

One truck and three tractors. Looks like to me you have your priorities in order.

Yeah, one dealer had a MPower 85 4wd and FEL on the lot for $32.5k. It's A LOT of tractor and tempting but I need to use that extra 2,500 on a grapple.

The 75 might be right at the price point you need then. Wouldn't hurt to get a price on it.

I looked at the mPower and 5570 today. I'll be using it to spray and mow between my planted pines and I think the 5570 fits that better. I really like the size of that tractor, just still concerned about reliability, I get mixed feed back on it.

I think I'm going to take a step back and visit some auctions, don't need it today and it'll give me some time to think.

Good approach. Give Tractor House a look. You can search the state and tractor brand you want. It will get you an idea of asking prices.

I looked at auctions but sometimes that is where the "problem children" will turn up...not all the time, but some times. Barlow Equipment (search them here on the forum...very popular dealer on TBN) in Somerset is actually where I purchased my used Kubota M6800 with Cab and Loader. I call him every now and then to see what someone has traded in. My tractor was a trade in. There are several people who will trade often and you can easily pick up a tractor that is barely even broken in (like mine) and save some serious cash. When I bought that tractor in 2014 I would have had to pay over $50 thousand dollars for the exact same tractor. Granted it was 10 years old, but only 506 hours.....and half price...and no emissions stuff.... I'll leave you alone now...happy shopping, I love the chase!

Oh one more point about the trade ins.....when people trade in equipment that have been depreciating for tax purposes, it pays them to trade in versus sell outright. If I sell I have to pay income taxes on the sell. If I trade the tractor in, no income taxes are paid, I can just depreciate the difference in price. So trading has its tax advantages. All the more reason why you can see some darn good trade ins out there. There is one guy on here who is very active....he's traded and had like 20 kubotas or something like that. I bet you some of that is depreciation driven.

Looks like I (may) own a New Holland Workmaster shortly. Dealer I saw over the weekend called today & with his offer including 0% interest I don't think I can turn it down. Going to actually drive it tomorrow to see.

So im in a very similar boat as you. Just purchased a 54 acre tract in NE Ga. Mostly pasture. Maybe 10 acres of woods on the ouskirts and a bit scattered about. Im trying to figure out what my tractor needs are. Like you, money is the limit. New or used and which brand is the question. Havent looked at the financing on a used unit. Any recommendations on who to go through for that. No gate card as of yet. We're still living in the city for now and will be cleaning up the land until its time to move.

What tractor did you end up with? Happy? Any complaints? Issues? Regrets?

Used the best I could get was my bank putting it on a commercial loan at 6% and I believe 4 yrs, maybe 5. Going new I got 0%. Kubota & New Holland had the best 0% deal without adding hidden cost in the end. After 5 yrs both those two required some cash down, the Kubota added nothing to the final loan with 0% & NH only added like 1,500 or 2k can't recall now. Be careful with most before getting baited in with the 0%, they add alot to the final note getting there interest money back being about the same as there cash back offer with the high interest rates.

I did go new, bought a New Holland Workmaster 60 with loader, 3rd valve function kit, grapple, and since added several attachments.

The tractor I originally bought had an issue right out the gate, was losing power steering fluid within 20 min of using it right off the trailer. Dealer stood behind it and the tractor, rigged out another new one and took that one back to diagnose. Turned out to be a faulty seal in the hydraulic pump. Either way, he took great care of me and in 54hrs of hard (but responsible) use with the new replacement it's been nothing but great!

Here is a thread of everything.

http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/buying-pricing-comparisons/384687-deal-has-been-made-bought.html

I put it down to the John Deere 50xxE, Kubota M6060, and New Holland Workmaster. The NH was my overall choice after factoring everything. Hope this helps.

There is a dealer in Clearmont that sales Massey Ferguson that throwed one heck of a deal at me for a new 2607H. That's very close to you, may want give those a look as well and see what he has to offer if you like them.
