A plug for the dealer. This is the rig he used for delivery. The nice thing about the Kubota is it's light enough to be towed with a HD pickup.

Whenever i wanted to move my Case i had to hire out a much larger rig ( 9 tons (ish) ).

MyToys:

Well at least you can't use my username of 5030!! It is a nice number though.

A couple of things:
1. After you use the FEL for a while, the fittings may begin to leak. Mine did. They leaked at the 1st. junction where the hoses thread to the steel lines. The have to be really tight. I took them apart and put a little thread sealing tape on each one being careful not to get any on the tapered part.
2. The hoses will rub the hood when you cycle the loader up and down. I put a rubber band around the hoses and around the upright to pull the hoses away from the hood.
3. Be very careful when you dismount the loader. As it is a single point mount, the loader must be LEVEL or it will not align with the uprights and you won't be able to get the pins back in.

I see you didn't get the cabin model. I got the cab for haying. The cab precludes me from mowing the lawn or going under trees. The dealer told me that if I trashed the roof, Kubota wouldn't warranty it.

I just returned from another round of cutting hay and when I was going down the road, I found my emergency flashers weren't working on the l. h. side. I just got finished finding the problem. I had to tear the dash apart to get to the flasher unit. It's electronic and fried. I can't wait to see howw much that will cost.

I just ordered a Lucknow 78" 2 stage snowblower for the 5030. Last year I used the Woods SB60 that I had for my 3710. It isn't wide enough and I kept breaking shear pins. The 5030 has too much power for it.

Your 5030 will run better as you accumulate hours. Mine didn't really come alive until I had over 150 hours on it.

I'd really like to get a backhoe, but Kubota dosen't make one for the cab model. I will probably have to fab a mount for a Bradco or Woods hoe, I had a smaller one on my 3710 but it went with the tractor.

Congratulations on a fine machine. Finally 5030 has someone to swap notes with.

Is that a BH90 in the pics or one of the other brands? I have been planning on a BH for my 4610 for some months now, but having two of your kids getting married in the same year (including our only daughter - gosh but girls are expensive!) kind of put a dent in the 'ol pocketbook.

Enjoy!

Grandad,

Yes, that's the BH90. I've used it for maybe an hour. I'm still not used to the 2 stick controls but I'm told, once I get the hang of it, they'll be easier than my Case controls (three levers and swing pedals). The hoe seems to be very quick and powerful for it's size.

5030,

Thanks so much for the tips, I really do appreciate them. Keep them coming if you think of more. I'm sure i'll have questions as i get more time on the machine.

I would love to have the cab for plowing snow in the wintertime, I guess I'll have to bundle up.

I do have one question. I was using the RFM over the weekend and i'm a little concerned about running the tractor at 2600 RPM to get the pto speed to 540. I've read all the other trheads on this and, from what i can tell, it's ok to run the tractor at that speed. It just seems like it's really wound up and I want to baby it at this point. Any thoughts? Did you run yours at PTO speed when you first got it?

Thanks

I still don't run my L3830 at PTO speed when mowing. For one, I just can't tell the difference in the cut. I run mine at about 2300 RPM sometimes less. Your 5030 is the same engine as what I had in my L48 and it had all its torque at about 1700 RPM. The L3830 is also the same engine just one less cylinder. I would try operating it at a lower RPM and decide if the cut is satisfactory for you. My RFM is a 84" Landpride. I enjoy my L3830 HST tremendously. I now have almost 100 hours on it and have had it since May 2003.
