i like the center of my rear tires to be even with the outside edge of the fenders. you're tires look like they are in the narrow position that they transport them in. stable?

Hi bill in ny,

You've got me worrying. I would really like to have all of that power in a package that is only 6.5' wide, but on the other hand I want a stable platform to work from. My Bobcat A300 is about 80" wide and is incredibly stable, but it's center of gravity is also much lower to the ground.

A little like AKfish, I live in a remote place, granted not as remote, but I would really like to get my tractor setup as well as possible the first time. I could change the wheel spacing myself, but it sure would be nice to just leave those 1300 lb. wheel/tires securely bolted to the tractor.

I am back to pondering the idea of setting up the tractor with 7' spacing. I wish that I could just hop in it with the loader and drive around on some hills. My farm does have some hilly places, but not very steep. My overall plan has been that the very few places (around the ponds etc.) where it is steeper I will continue to maintain with the Bobcat's mower.

Did anyone else notice the HOT PINK JD in the upper left in the first picture of Island's new tractor?

Yes I did. That thing is pretty neat!

I did notice that in the background. I haven't been to the dealership in about a week and a half, at that point they didn't have it. Overall, I still think I prefer green.

Great looking machine Island!

What is that reservoir on the right rear fender? Oil collection for the SCVs?

So the H260 loader won't be available to anyone until February I take it?

Dealer found a non MY2012 5085M with all the options I want for a good price. I'm trying to decide between waiting until March for a MY2012, or go with the one he can get in short order and wait until Feb to get the H260 installed.

I really like the corner cab exhaust on the MY2012, but I don't know that it's worth $3500 to me. The Kubota's I looked at before deciding on the 5M has that. The MY2012 also brings:

Cab roof window
Bluetooth & Aux audio input (no need for radio option)
Sync range selector between B, C and D
15% larger fuel tank
25% higher hitch lift capacity (4500 lbs)
H series loader compatibility (this is why I wasn't sure if the older 5M's would support it)

Decisions, decisions...

Thanks, I'm pretty excited!

I don't know the answer yet, but it could be that this tractor does have the oil collection kit on it.

The dealer told me he has ordered an H260 for this tractor. I won't be talking to him again until tomorrow. I really am wishing he knows what he is talking about.

For me, the extra 5" of wheelbase would be a deal killer. In my initial research I drove a Kubota M9540 with loader, which would be about the same wheelbase as the new 5085M --- it just felt to long and didn't turn tight enough for my place. If you don't have that same concern, then I would seriously consider the new version. Full syncro, heavier duty 3ph, loading window up top, and the exhaust that you like. I wouldn't mind having those goodies, if I could have the old wheelbase.

Decisions, decisions...

It is hard to make these decisions. I sure do appreciate having this community of generous people to help though.

Keep thinking, and good luck!

give it a try island farmer, it just looks narrow in the picture. i bale hay on some side hills so i feel more comfortable with a wider stance. it might be fine for you. is that resevoir on the back for windshield washer fluid? [maybe]

My guess is the reservior is for washer fluid

Turns out the 5085M the dealer thought had 3 rear SVCs did not, so a 2012 model it is! While I was walking his lot, I saw a 5105M next to a 5093E Limited, but had 18.4R30/12.4R24 tires and 563 loaders. It's kinda hard to tell from these crappy cell phone pics, but the M was a lot more machine that the E.

After seeing those skinny 12.4R24 fronts again, I'm back to trying to figure out how to get something more substantial up front. I looked at the Michelin Multibib tires, and they are really nice! I have been searching high and low to try to figure out what the actual rim width are for the OEM wheels that are offered with the various tire options, and so far I haven't been able to locate them.

I'd love to run the 480/65R24 Multibib up front, which requires a 15" rim (14" will do as well but 15" is optimal). And I don't know if any of the OEM offerings are that size.

My 4700 has 24" diameter 15" wide rims on the back. I wonder if those would bolt up to the front of a 5M? :D

How do the front wheels mount to the centers? My 6415 uses 8 bolts, two (pairs) spaced every 90 degrees. It has 13.6 24 front tires. I can check the rim width if you think they would work.
