I have to agree on this one, all tractors smoke a little. Unless its full tier 4. But its not. Their not made to be smoke free.
It's not the smoke that concerns either one of us, we have had tractors for 40 plus years, we have never had a tractor to blow out black sticky soot that sticks to the glass and has to be washed off with car wash, it could be normal it's just not something we are accustomed to.

Don't let that machine run less than 1500 rpm. see what happens. I never let any of mine runless than that.

It sounds like just that the soot is was moistened by water or just the moisture of the air, when it started it sprayed all over the glass and hood I assume.. Is it like that?

Yes sir that is exactly what it looks like, did a dealer or mechanic tell you that is what it was or did you come to that conclusion on your own? I really appreciate you posting that picture cause I was beginning to wonder if anybody else had experienced this. We had a JD 4040 and a 2840 and never experienced this, so maybe I need to get out of the past and figure out about these new tractors. Thanks' again Charlie.

Its just wet soot, I washed my 5085M and then about after 25 minutes I started it to move it out of the way, that's what comes out of the exhaust. Its really nothing, some moisture like water that touches the outside of the exhaust pipe somehow makes some steam so the inside is moist I guess.
