New 825I Gator in the Barn!

Came across an idea lately in reading some other stuff that seems to be interesting. Many claim the RPM engagement of the CVT clutch is too high on the 825i. I would tend to agree a little, depending on what one was doing. They took the clutch from the diesel version, which engages at a lower RPM, and put it on the 825i gasser. Direct fit. Clutch now engages at around 1200 RPM instead of on up the ladder. Seems like an idea worth pursuing in the future. Right now, I am ok with the stock setup of my 825i gasser, but when it comes time for a belt, clutch, or similar, I am seriously looking at going with a diesel clutch. In reading the stuff, they said that also they were getting a couple of more mph out of the top end. That is not my main concern.

One thing to consider is the diesel engine develops most of it's power down low....the gas engine develops it's power at higher rpms.....I wouldn't want to be lugging my 825i engine by over clutching it.

This, of course, would be mainly for those that are primarily using it to cruise around the property and not trying to pull down the side of the barn. Many 825i's are not used to traverse mountain sides, bury to the skid plates in mud, or pull and haul heavy. For those that don't need all the hp and torque frequently could benefit from lower RPM to get up and go. Each user will have to decide if this conversion would be worth it to them.
