I wonder if you could rig up a tarp would give you shade and not increase the height by very much

As I do considerable 'cleanup' along walking paths, in yards and commons in my 400 acre community, which means getting off the tractor frequently, I prefer sun protection travel with my head.

Also, the community is upscale. My wife has no problem with me tractoring but she wants me to start the day in pressed work clothes (her job) and she wants a new straw hat on my head twice per year. She prefers implements match the color of the tractor. A tarp will not do.

This is a wander, but I highly recommend Red Kap brand 100% cotton work clothes, which are make you sweat less than work clothes with even a small synthetic content. Short sleeve shirts $25. Also excellent insulated vests, available in LONG. Some Red Cap offerings are 100% cotton, some not. I only buy 100% cotton. Local internet distributors in each region of the USA. Search local for your pricing.

The only other source for 100% cotton is Duluth Trading, but Duluth asks $65 for their 100% cotton work shirts.

A friend of mine (who is 70) rides a Harley. He used to wear a helmet, but has recently switched to a leather brimmed hat with a wire in the rim. He likes it because he can shape it so no sun touches his face at all. He's scared $hitle$$ of skin cancer.

I tried telling him that I'm sure his dermatologist would advise him to wear the helmet, the motorcycle (or ratherer the pavement) being a more immediate danger than the sun, but he won't hear anything of it.

Just thought you guys might get a laugh outta that while we're on the topic. I know I did.

Sun protecting lotions come in various strengths: SPF30, SPF50, etc.

The numbers are the hours of effective sun protection. My dermatologist says SPF30 is sufficient, THEN BATHE.

Hey beautiful Jeff, I checked out the Red Kap stuff, and I like the idea of buying it via Amazon Prime... very affordable if the quality is there! Speaking of dermatologists, my buddy who lives on Maryland's Eastern Shore, amongst watermen who spend their lives working on the water, has told me horror stories about skin cancers, and cataracts caused by sun exposure. He became a fan of Rayban sunglasses many years ago, and wears them always. The every 90 day visits to get pieces cut off and out rings true, from what he's told me.

I think that might be a little to large
Haha, i remember when 10 acres seemed like more, which it is plenty of land i like the 5 series for lift capacity. The 4 series are nice, bit smaller but big enough to not out grow it imho. Show pics of whatever you buy. Have you checked mahindra, they seem very nice and competitive. I highly recommend you atleast see one in person before buying. Im going mahindra for my next tractor. Jd is getting too pricey for me and other companies are moving into the competition with good equipment
