New and Different Folding ROPS Rattle

I did a search for ROPS and Rattle, and found a few posts about the hinge point rattling. MY buddy and I both bought identical 2710s with folding ROPS, and both of our ROPS rattle at the base where it slips over the bottom part near the fender. I figured that the dealer neglected to tighten the bolts all the way, but when I tried to tighten them, they were already very tight. I can wobble the ROPS on its base by hand to get the rattle. It seems that the bottom part that it slips over and bolts to is just that much smaller than the ROPS that even bolted tight it still rattles. Does anyone have a similar setup that does NOT have a rattle? Are we the only ones? It seems odd that BOTH my buddy and I would have this rattle if none of you do.

The rattle seems to be from moving forward and backward, rather than side to side. Should we insert shims on the front and back of the ROPS tube to eliminate the rattle before tightening the ROPS? Ideas are welcome and appreciated.
