Kubota
Hi all, youngoilguy here... I'm a new tractor owner. I recently bought a slightly used kubota b 7510 and purchased a plot of land where my wife and are going to build our dream home/hobby farm. While the land is still vacant, I'm utilizing it for corn, pumpkins and a deer food plot (along with a few hundred tomato plants). Anyways, the tractor came with a number of attachments. One of which is an IH single row planter. I restored the finish, and noticed many IH logos, but no model number. I learned about seed plates (the hard way) and now know they are all plastic now a days. 16 or 24 cell. My planter works well, but plants waaaayyyyy too close together when using a 16 cell planter. I filled every other hole and spacing is good for corn, about 6 to 8". However, I cannot identify my model, and locate a manual to see how to adjust gears (no chain) for plant spacing. Below us a pic of my planter. Can anybody identify it and or help me figure out how to adjust it. My sweet corn cast iron plate (that it came with) has every other hole welded closed. I bought all from an estate sale so I have no way of speaking to prior owner.

Hi and welcome to TBN!

I have no help to offer, except to suggest posting some more detailed pictures from various angles to allow the experts a better chance to ID it.

Good luck,
Thomas

If I had to make a suggestion - it would that you should change the title of the thread to something more descriptive of what you're looking for information on.

Something like: " looking for info on old IH planter" - or something like that. You might not be getting anybody to look at the thread just because the title is very vague.

I would second that.

Try contacting Binder Books, send them the pictures, maybe they can match it to a manual.

Most chain driven planters you vary seed spacing by changing sprockets, select the correct plate for the seed size you are planting.

Does the rotation for the seed plate come from the rear wheel via the two flat bars? I'm not familiar with this planter and trying to understand.

Exactly. The flat bars turn like an old. Locomotive and turn the gear attached to the seed plate. I'm puzzled too. I'm somewhat mechanically inclined and I see no way to adjust it. :(

The bell cranks that are pinned to the axles to attach flat bar were probably offered in different lengths, by swapping different throw length from front to back you could change seed spacing.

Thank you so much. Now to try and figure out a place in the world that sells something like that..... And what do you think? Longer armed? I would think shorter would be faster spinning, thus making the seed plate spin faster.

Need small on drive wheel, long on driven end. Should be easy to make with several holes on each end so you can adjust.

Surplus Center sells sprockets and roller chain pretty cheap if you wanted to go that route.
