Well i found a hammer puller in Northern Tool that is doing the job of getting the piston sleeves out. I got one out and of course the other is a problem. ALso got the radiator boiled out at a shop. New parts are in just waiting on a manual and time to just dig in. If I find my camera cable I can upload some photos what I am doing. Also just picked up a big torque wrench that goes up to 250lbs. doe anyone off had know the head torque for a 2210?
thanks,
E

Well just about finished putting the motor back together. Hot day. Had to go in side a few times. It has been slow to put together with Family and other projects. Just got a zero turn mower used and it is fun to drive. I will end up selling my 72 inch finish mower later on. Anyway It has been pretty nice puting the motor back together. One tid bit that was helpful was that i used one of those chain oil filter wrenches to turn the crank shaft. Worked out well when I was adjusting the valves. Only thing i have left is clean up the oil pan cover and put radiator fluid in and check for leaks. Hope to get to it later next week.
have a great weekend.

Well I got it running! Hurray! I feel great about it. First time for pistons, rings and sleeves! It seems smoother and no smoke out of the muffler. I am keeping the side covers off for now just to monitor fluids and leaks. So far just a drip out of one of the bolts on the oil pan section. It sort of stopped after a few min of running. Hope fully it will hold. We shall see.

Wel i got to use the tractor quite a bit this weekend. SO much more power than before. I thought it had good power but not it hardly bogs down at all. I will just loose traction before it starts to bog. I did have to put a little radiator stop leak in. I had bad radiator fluid back with I bought it in 2000 and it cracked around the freeze plug. I had to do a old trick a guy tought me with using a Dremel tool on the crack and then put some JB weld on it. It fixed 99% of the leak back then but i had to put some stop leak in to finish the weeping off. Now that i had cleaned up every thing this time it must have cleaned the weeping crack again. ANy way a bit of stop leak and now good to go. It sounds so different than before not so much clanking that I was use too.

I looked over your pics of the motor tear down and noticed that the old pistons had the oil control ring below the wrist pin and the new had them above--was there a design change somewhere along the way?

you know what I did not even see that! LOL! that is really weird. I wonder if it was a old design or just the wrong pistons were in it? Maybe someone will shed some light on that! LOL!

It had the right pistons, the pistons you used are for a YM2000, same size, no problem.

Thanks Danny for shedding some light on the subject. If the 2000 has similar size pistons I thought a 2210 would have bigger displacment? I know the 10 on the 2210 is for shuttle shift but was wondering what else is different in the motor? I am actully hopefully getting a ym2000 this week from a guy and hope to fix it up to sell.
