I have the new B2920 about 4 hours on from blowing snow last week to clean up Blizzard. Question is low sulfur hwy fuel. I live in midwest and can buy ag fuel no problem vs hwy diesel which is cheaper. Is ag diesel better on engine as is higher sulfur or should I use the Hwy diesel and possibily add a good diesel additive?

I think the fuel is the same, except Ag is dyed and can only be used off-road (it's exempt from road tax).

Around here, on road, off road, and HHO are all the same except for the dye in the OR and HHO. I have a friend that owns a small trucking company, and he tells me it all comes out of the same tank when he is loading. The dye is injected when he loads. Certainly this may vary some by region. You should be fine with whatever is available to you.

In my area, off-road diesel is taxed considerably less and is cheaper, but it is high sulfur fuel also. My L3800 requires the ultra low sulfur (15PPM max). I talked to my dealer and asked about off-road as a substitute and he told me maybe in a pinch sometime, but the repairs were not worth the savings if I used it regularly.

I asked my dealer if it was okay to use the off-road diesel and he told it must be because that's all he uses in all of his tractors. I have been running mine for 3yrs and 150hrs with no problems. I do put a little addidtive in it for winter. You can do a search on here about it and get way more detailed reading than you will ever have time to read. What I got out of all the reading I did was that the more sulfur was actually better for your valves, but it was the emissions that was the issue for being off-road only.

Good Luck ! :)

When diesel went low sulphur here ( maybe 8 - 9 years back .. )
all the old engines had valve , gasket and pump failures . Lots of folk
with old Toyota Land Cruiser stuff were not happy . Many old vehicles were just junked .......

My supplier says that the fuels are identical one is dyed red. I forget which one. It is all about the road taxes we diesel people have to pay and nothing else.

I have been using this same fuel in my truck (2001 GMC Duramax) and tractor for eleven years without any problems. I also put Stanadyne additive in each and every fill-up

If you are concerned, check with the fuel distributor. It's really unlikely that there is any difference, they don't really want to refine, store AND SHIP two different fuels. In most places, it's the identical diesel, with off-road just having dye added.

Off-road will be fine for your tractor. I think any dealer that says otherwise doesn't know what he is talking about.

The sulfur in diesel will not hurt the engine but it will damage emission systems but since your tractor does not have any don't worry about it.

1*My supplier says that the fuels are identical one is dyed red.
2*I forget which one.
3*It is all about the road taxes we diesel people have to pay and nothing else.

1*He is rite.
2*Off road is red.
3*Gasoline people have to pay the same road tax so the diesel people aren't being singled out. .
It's really unlikely that there is any difference,
4* they don't really want to refine, store AND SHIP two different fuels.
5*In most places, it's the identical diesel, with off-road just having dye added.
6*Off-road will be fine for your tractor.
7* I think any dealer that says otherwise doesn't know what he is talking about.

4*This was a big advantage of changing to only one fuel .
5*About 95 percent would cover most places.
6*ULSD is the only choice most places.
7*I know he don't know.

1*Must be old stuff since production was changed to ULSD back in 2010.
2*I'm not so sure about this.
