Well, we brought home the new baby today!! And yes it did fill up the 16ft trailer to the limit! But that is the limit to my truck too. On Friday it was in the high 60’s but when I go to pick up on Sat. it was raining and in the 30’s. So we just dropped the tractor off at he property and head home for some hot chicken pastry. Sunday was still cold so we waited till about 10:00 am before heading out. Got out and warmed the tractor for the 5 min. and then did a walk thru with the wife. Let her tool around a bit then it was time for some work. The land has 3 driveways cut in to it. I am going to use one a as barn site. But it needed some groundwork first. I started out slow. Found out fast that to move much dirt I was going to have to use 4wd a lot. Put about 5 hours on the tractor and I am about 85% done with the building pad. Her are a few photos.

mj1angier,

Looking good /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif, are you planning to get a box blade and a toothbar for the FEL? You need some counter-weight so tell the wife the boxblade is a requirement /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif.

You must be up around Hendersonville...? I am about an hour and a half east of Asheville. The weather is a little crazy right now. I have the same tractor and trying to clear a couple of skidder trails and old road bed to our new house site. It is great weather during the week and rain on the weekend lately. This weekend looks promising...60's and sunshine so maybe I can put the chainsaw down and get some much needed tractor time.

Good luck, have fun, BE SAFE, and keep the pictures comming on your prep work.

Thanks for the reply.
I am down SE of Raleigh, right beside Sharon Harris Lake.

The box blade and tooth bar is in the works. I want to hit some of the up coming farm auctions before I buy a new box blade. Might pick up a used one at a good price.

We dodge the weather today /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Just a little cold rain. I will try to get back out on Wenday if it is clear.

Congrads on your new purchase. You'll really enjoy that tractor.

Couple things I might offer.
When you get a box blade, if you have a choice and the money, consider getting a box blade with the a hinged blade. I have both the fixed and the hinged style box blades and I have found that the hinged style typically works better for me in most situations. Just a thought...

I also have a toothbar and find that it is one of my favorite tractor tools. After owning a toothbar, I wouldn't want to be without one. So yes, the toothbar is worth the money, to me at least.

Enjoy that baby. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

YOU LET YOUR WIFE ON IT? Its a goner now,you just lost all your seat time.Minds well grab a cold one,go set in your recliner and cry. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gifOr you could sneak in her closet and hide all her warm clothes /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gifHave fun

Thanks, I like so far and have only been on it for 5 hrs.

I have never seen a hinged box blade. What part is hinged? How dose it work or what dose it make go better.

Thanks for all the info, guys!
