NEW BARN/HOUSE RELOCATION AND REMODELLING

Here are some shots of the property I took possession of in July. It's 11 acres, 2 houses, 440 feet waterfront. First project is to build a barn. Drawings have been lodged for building permit and I'm currently cutting the road up to the barn site. The house will be adjacent, about 60 feet between the two. I'll try to get the barn build by next spring so I can relocate the house in early summer and work on the remodelling during the dry months.

The first photograph is a sea view from the approximate location between where the house and the barn will be, house on right, barn on left. My property runs down to the waterfront and Galiano island can be seen in the distance. You can also catch a glimpse of the existing house just to the right of the tractor.

This shot is the front of the existing house, built in 1991. Apart from relocating 100 yards further up the hill, it needs a good deal of changes.

This is a shot looking across the partly cleared house site to the barn site beyond. I've still a lot of stump to pull before I site strip which will be phased, barn first then house.

Here's the log deck. Most of the trees needed have been felled but need to be hauled out of the wood onto the deck.

I started rough cutting the driveway today, using BB bought only yesterday. First time I've used one and I like it. It's much easier to use than the loader to get a flat and even topsoil strip. So far the subbase is good, with only one soft spot towards the big cedar on the left which I'll have to dig out.

The next two photographs are of the driveway sections I've yet to cut, looking uphill instead of down. I've marked to approx. line of the drive.

It looks so pretty to me "as is" I'm wondering why you want to move the house.
