TC35D with 16LA Loader
Well I've taken the plunge. TC 35D with loader will show up Friday afternoon. Got a 6' Woods rotary cutter and a Befco auger driller with 9" bit. Dealer insisted that methanol filled tires and wheel weights (2 per side, forgot lbs) in rear are necessary for loader. Given all I've read about weights and traction (on this board) seemed resonable to me. Machine seems so sweet, drives beautifully. Turns on a dime (without supersteer even). Starts real easy, no smoke at all. My wife is convinced that I didn't play with Tonka toys enough as a kid. Now I can prove her right!

paccorti,

Congrats on the new toy, the 35-45s are definately the nicest looking, best ergo's on the market IMHO can't drive by my local NH dealer without stopping to sit on one and marvel at (dare I say lust after) these things. Let me know how you like that loader ....

paccorti,

Did you purchase from an on line dealer or local? If local did you get internet quotes and did your dealer match the price? Where are you located ?

Congrats! We will want to hear more after delivery.
I'm 5'7" and when I raised up off the seat 1", you could see clear accross the bucket edges. No excuses for half empty bucket loads.

Remember to clear out garage or barn space and hang your Xmas stocking (VERY LARGE ONE) there. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif Room for tiller or what ever you need.

stvman,

I'm located in Northern VA. Did not know that there were any internet prices for NH just heard about Carver for Kubota (a real good guy in my opinion). I bought from Gaithersburg Ford Tractor in MD. Without haggling they had the best prices (as far as I know).

TC35D (R4s) - $16,100 with methanol filled rears and 2 wheel weights per rear
16LA Loader with 72" heavy duty bucket - $3800
Woods XT172 (6' light duty) Rotary Cutter - $1000
Befco Post Hole Driller - $625
9" Auger - $190

At my request he threw in armrests and the service manual. I'm particularly happy about the service manual. Even if I don't do my own repairs I like to know how things are supposed to be fixed.

The loader seems real nice. I only bought after testing one with the loader. It does perform simultaneous boom and bucket movement (4 link bucket too). Some have said it is a little slow, might be true. Capacity is awsome though. 1300 lbs (at bucket edge NOT pivot pin) at max height. At bucket pivot pin and max height I think it is 1800 lbs. I think it is stronger than the JD 430 loader and the Kubota 481 loader. Should be enough for me /w3tcompact/icons/cool.gif.

My first job is to attack the huge pricker bushes. I think I'll karate chop them with the loader first then drive over and grind up with rotary cutter. I'll report in after I have a couple of hours in the saddle.

All,

Took delivery yesterday. Tractor arrived clean and ready to go. Tractor is super easy to drive. I don't know how I ever considered a gear tractor after driving an HST. It is so much easier; particularly when I'm bush hoggin' near the pond and have to back up frequently.

It's funny the thoughts that go through your head when the tractor arrives. First, wow this tractor is huge, what was I thinking... I'll blow through this entire 10 acres in about an hour. Then after hoggin' for an 1.5 hours. Wow good thing I got the 6' hog this seems to take so much longer... I think the "hog" does a pretty good job of mowing. I'm glad I got the lighter duty version. The biggest thing I have chopped up is a 3/4" bush and it blew through that without the slightest problem. I'm also glad that I got the R4's. Even with all the weight (and a ton of rain in Northern VA yesterday) I did not leave the slighest impression in the ground.

The one feature that the TC35D may lack is an overrunning rear PTO. The rear PTO is engaged with a lever; there no manual clutch to operate. I like this as it permits the brakes to be on the proper (left) side. I always engage the rear PTO at the lowest possible RPM. When I do this I feel the tractor slightly "lurch" as the blades spin up. I don't think this is a problem. Once engaged I then rev up the engine per normal. The reason I think that the tractor lacks an overrunning PTO (PTO can spin faster than engine) is on engine rev down the same lurch occurs. I think that the engine is slowing down the implement. I could be wrong (very little saddle time) but that is my impression. This would not have changed my decision about the tractor. It is a seriously good machine.

Peter, I, too, engage the PTO at lower RPM, then rev up the engine to PTO speed, and personally, I like for the engine to slow the implement down. When I get ready to shut down, I throttle back to idle and let the engine slow the blades down before disengaging the PTO.
