I've been looking at used compact tractors for dirt work, mowing and tilling. Came across a dealer with a new Bobcat CT230 with loader. Not sure if it's a 2012 or 2013. I'm told it has 27 hours as a dealer demo but would come with the full warranty. What would be a reasonable price for it?

I would think around 10-11 grand.
I don't think they made a 13 model.

You may want him to clarify if "dealer demo" means that he rented it out. I know that my dealer offered the 230 series tractors for rent when they were in the tractor business. When I bought my Bobcat the battery had a date, and the air both filter elements had dates on them. The originals dates on mine were only a month apart, and all three were well over a year old on mine when I bought it. But if the price is right....

Apart from that I would expect a low hour ct230 to sell in the 12500 neighborhood in my local market.

I think they made a few 2013 s. personally I don't think you're going to be finding too many CT 230s in the $11-$12,000 price range with that low of hours with a loader. I bought my 2012 CT 225 for $14,000 with loader about eight months ago new. The 230 was $500 more at that time and they were sold out of them by the time I called. Same guy recently had a few of what he was advertising as 2013's for about 15,000. I love mine would highly recommend it.

Found a local used 2008 CT230 on Craigslist for $11,000. Sold by next morning. I'll definitely ask more about the history of the new one. From what I've seen the used market including surrounding states is in the $13-$15 range. Some of those didn't include the loader. He's got it priced at $18,000.

Does this dealer have much CT inventory left? Have you shopped any other brands of (almost) new 30 hp tractors to see where this dealer's price stacks up? At that price you shouldn't have to worry too much about someone else snatching it out from underneath you while you're doing your homework.

I forgot to include a loader in my guess, so it is at least a couple thousand low.
There is a seller on the web selling near new bobcats out of California for a very good price.Freight might spoil the deal.

That tractor is worth $13,500 - $15,500 because it is new with a full warranty. (I think $14,500 would be bang on the money in the current market!)

If you can get into that price range I don't think you'll find a comparable make or model that can touch that tractor's specs. and price.

If the machine were closer and I could get it for $14,500 or less I'd probably buy it today.

By the way, my price thoughts are based upon a CASH purchase, NOT a Bobcat financing program. Financing through Bobcat at 0%, if still available, will raise the selling price.

Good luck and PLEASE let us know how this plays out.

Tman1020 is right. A "new" CT230 (and with only 27 hrs on it, it's unused.) is probably going to run about 15,000. I bought mine new, about 15 hrs on it, early November 2012 for about 18,000. Reason why I think yours will go several thousand lower today than when I bought mine is because Bobcat isn't selling them any more, just emptying their current inventory. They're nearly identical to the Kioti CK30, being both rebranded from Daedong Company. The loader and other attachments, and paint, being the major differences. I've got 238 hrs on mine so far and I use it to clear snow, move rocks and small boulders, grade trails and the dirt drive, move fill, and haul firewood and logs out of the woods. It's NOT a bulldozer, but if you take it slow and easy, you can do pretty much everything with it.

It's a 2013 model. Only one he has as he's on Bobcat's list of dealers for clearing them out. It has the loader and bucket with the quick attach. Also has cruise (didn't realize tractors needed cruise control) and the suspension seat. Supposed to get a breakdown on it along with pics. I have him down to $16k. That would have a 3 year power train and 1 year complete warranty. Couldn't talk him into throwing in any attachments. Doesn't seem as bad of a price now and from what I've found, still less than a new Kioti CK30. I think the other CT230's I've found wouldn't be a bargain by the time I pay freight or make the drive to pick one up. Thoughts on the new price? Do they fit in a garage?
