BX2200
Just purchased my first Kubota today, a sweet BX2200 with 60"mmm and FEL, will be delivered on Tuesday, 9_11. Would like your opinion on the tires I need since I wish to use the loader or a blade for some light snow removal on a 100' driveway. Most of the BX's use will be mowing 3.5 acres. Your opinions/experiences are welcomed.

Bob

PS been reading this forum and others for the past few weeks and the members here helped me make my decision to go to a new BX tractor. Thanks for all your input

Re: New BX2200 which tires

The turfs are really better than you would think with the rake, box blade, etc..(mainly because of the 4WD availability and differential lock)but they may very well turn to slicks in the snow. Other BX'ers have ordered a full set of "baby ag's", with wheels, for a hair over $300. At that price it's not worth the time (to me) and effort to try chains or ?. After the last lawn mowing I'll switch to the Ag's until spring. It's also easy enough to swap the turfs for Ag's if I need to play in the mud.
Enjoy your new BX! BTW where in NY are you? I'm on Long Island.

Re: New BX2200 which tires

David,
Thanks so much for the tire info and my thanks to VinNB for his info as well.
I was born and raised in Brooklyn then moved to Long Island(Levittown and then Selden). Moved down here to West Virginia in 1978. I am located 60 miles west of Washington DC in the Northern Shenandoah Valley. I am very close to Harper's Ferry, Blue Ridge Mtns, and the Shenandoah and Potomac rivers. Very picturesque.

Bob,
I thought I detected a Brooklyn accent /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif! Actually I thought you'd be less hairy too! /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif (Kate in NY? (k8ny))
I'm in Huntington, NY and although it's not WV it's one of the few towns left here in Western Suffolk that still (to me) feels like the country. (Horses, small farms, very New England like)
BTW does WV get much snow? I would think it would be like winters here or is it inland and elevated enough to get Pennsylvania mountain like winters.
A shot in the dark here.. I attended High School in Levittown (1976 grad) and lived in Wantagh. Would that have possibly put us in the same school at the same time?

think u might want to consider R4"S nice all around comprimise. don't belive u will be moving that much snow down there, and ags do have a tendency to tear up your yard, for your area and needs turffs would be my second choice.

Frank,
Unless you are referring to R4's from another source, they are not available from Kubota on the BX2200. Only turfs or the "baby Ag's".

In looking at the BX and B7500 we were considering for the
R4's, because it'll need to blow snow here in northern WI.
The dealer suggested the turfs unless you're going to pull
a blade through a foot of it. He said the ags will have
more contact points to grip the hard pack just like stipes
on auto tires. He also mentioned the ags would be useless
on ice but the turfs should work well for clearing the
ice skating rink.

If you are looking at the BX series the industrial tires are not a factory option at this time. The ag tires are not like the normal ag tires and I believe they would work much the same but they do have a softer side wall which should give a good ride.

Re: New BX2200 which tires

David,
We do receive, on the average, a bit more snow than you do but not that much more. I am only 60 miles west of DC and about 120 miles west of the ocean. We are buffeted a bit by the Blue Ridge mountains to the east of us from all those Nor'easters you get.
My username name, K8NY, is actually my Amateur Radio callsign.
No, I did not attend school at that time (I am older than you). I attended Bishop Loughlin HS in downtown Brooklyn in the sixties.
Have fun in Huntington, I know that location very well(very beautiful locale).
