BX2350
Well, I finally have pulled the trigger and told the dealer to ready my NEW BX2350... ;)

$12,200 for BX2350 w/FEL, 60"MMM, and R4's.. Extra set of Turfs w/wheels $300.00..

I won't get to pick it up till sometime next week, but I'm severly struggling on purchasing the turfs.

My neighbor has a BX2200 and uses turfs, but he bought the bar tires which he switches to in the winter.... I think the bars are overkill, but the R4's should be sufficient

85-90 % will be mowing my 3/4 acre lot and will be plowing 6500 sq-ft circle drive of blacktop partly up/down a hill in IL...

I've borrowed a friends B20 with filled tires and ran all over my yard, so I'm not necessarily afraid of mowing with the R4's. I know this has been posted many other times, but now that some have or haven't purchased the turfs, should I?

Thanks!

This should be interesting to watch. I have a new Massey Furgeson GC2300 (about the same thing as yours) and have the ag tires. I have been dirt mining in the woods and carting same out to my garden. Now I have a tractor road from the garden to the woods.

It doesn't matter behind the garden area and into the woods, but I would bet I don't want to use these tires for mowing the main lawn. My dealer quoted me $700 for a set of turfs on rims for my tractor. Seems high compared to what you were offered.

Musclford,

I have had small tractors with both the turfs and R4s. The turfs are slightly better for mowing that the R4s. Less grass tearing on turns and offer a smoother ride. The turfs are also suprisingly good in the snow. I also clear a blacktop drive of snow, but I also go off-road clearing a path to a workshop and dog kennel that is down a decent grade. Never had a problem even in deep snow.

Now that I have R4s I do prefer them. They are almost as gentle on the grass. I have a yard (old corn field) not a lawn. The minute amount of grass tearing (rare) does not bother me. The R4s are also good in the snow. The main reason I prefer the R4s is that they are superior in any dirt working application that I do and they are heavier duty that the turfs. I had punctures in my turfs the first time I ventured into my old hayfield to bushhog. No punctures this season with R4s.

$300 is a good deal on another set of wheels/tires, but from your description I have a feeling you will be happy with just one set of tires, which set is up to you.

I used Bridgestone turfs for six years and they were great tires. I mowed my lawn, bush hogged my fields that had lots of mulitflura rose without ever getting a flat and did front end loader snow removal and dirt work. With the snow removal I could have used more traction since I was pushing the snow up my drive, chains would have solved that problem.

I was mistaken on my previous post about the cost for turf tires. It should have read $385 - I happened to be at the dealer today and asked. The R4 tires are not an option on a new GC2300 - they are available in turf or ag.

I bought turfs AND R4s for my BX2200. The R4s do absolutely no more damage to my lawn than the turfs do. Whenever I need traction for FEL work, etc. the turfs spin, whereas the R4s give the needed traction. The turfs have been sitting under the house for 5 years. There are lots of guys like me on TBN.

Buy the R4s. If you later decide that you really need turfs too, you can advertise on here and get a set like mine for a low price. You'd probably get enough offers that you could pick somebody close to you and get low shipping cost (maybe even go get them in person).

Thanks everyone for the replies... I just canceled the order for the Turfs. R4's will be sufficient and now I have 300 to buy another attachment ..
