Thank you everyone for advice on buying my new BX24. Now that it's here I've offically registered for TBN.

I went after a BX25 (they had 3) but for $1700 less, it was a no-brainer. All mods/fixes were done: seat upgraded, floor-reinforced, etc. The jerky reverse is only in high-range and controllable for me. Did I say $1700 less expensive to boot?

My dealer adds a block heater, rear work light, and a welded center bucket hook to every BX @ no cost. (OK it's in their price somewhere, I'll admit) Price was good and delivery was in 2 days from purchase. Blower is on order as well as the quick hitch but they will drive out to install tham and also drive out to do the 50 hour service.

I've had the bucket on and off twice. Today I will try the BH install after I take off the 3PH.

Anyone fit a soft cab (from snow blowing) on their BX24?

Still grinning form ear-to-ear.

PeterK, buying the BX24 instead of the BX25 was a smart move indeed. The $1,700 in savings allows you to get a major attachment for your BX24 almost free of charge. When you calculated the $1,700 in savings, did you include the fact that your free 3PH would have cost you hundreds of dollars extra had you opted for the BX25 instead?

I think that it's crazy for Kubota to un-bundle such a necessary feature as the 3PT on the BX25. So now can I tell my wife I saved even more?!

Instead of a ballast box, I opted for a rear blade for pulling snow away from the garage. Just the right amount of weight I think.

Very smart. Before I added my BH, I used my BoxBlade as ballast. It was always plenty of weight and it is a very functional attachment...I've used it to complete a great many projects where no other attachment would do. Great at smoothing stuff out.

The BX25 is great an all...can't knock anyone for the purchase...but there is absolutely no need for the extra HP. The seat is nice, but the premium is huge...I can't imagine it costing more than $400 if you bought it seperate. The BX24 is the best deal going right now.

Yes you can. It would appear that your savings may have been closer to $2,200. If you check this Forum, you will find a post by Petethenomad (July 2008) saying that a Kubota dealer was asking $500 for the 3 point hitch kit for a BX25.

Keith, I think that you are absolutely right. A few days ago, I was talking to a dealer in upstate NY; he was selling a new BX24 for $15,000 (before taxes).

'No extra HP on the BX25... same engine. You basically get ...
- a moving bucket at idle
-metal hood, fenders, etc
-no jerky stop in reverse.

I like the improvements and would have went for the 25 if it had more some real improvement. As it was, I am quite happy with keeping my $2K, idling the engine up and easing the gas of in reverse.

Why'd I think they stuck the BX2660 engine in there? Sorry 'bout that. Guess I figured they'd HAVE to do something more to justify the $2k.

I love my metal hood and fenders, but then I like a lot of things about my tractor. Not that they haven't been improved on...I just love my tractor.

When I bought my tractor, I paid LESS to get metal fenders (on an older generation tractor). Worked to my favor when I got "tried and true" instead of the issues that folks of the early BX1850, 2350, and 24 got in the form of breaking fenders, jerky reverse, and wimpy control knobs. Took Kubota a solid year to recognize the issue and resolve it to the satisfaction of owners.

Now that all the issues have been fixed to the point the new tractors, plastic fenders and all, are BETTER than my tractor, I'd have a hard time paying MORE to get metal fenders. THAT IS NOT TO SAY that I thought they should have ever gone away from metal in the first place...just seems like a lot of money, is all.

Sorry. A little off the subject. All I'm saying is that if I had to re-purchase everything today, I'd get the BX24.

.

There was a lot of rumor that the 2660 engine with 25hp was going into the new BX 25's but it was just that, rumor. I suppose that will be for the BX 26 models in a few years. Hate to see what they ask for those if the improvements for the 25 were valued at $2K.....
All the changes they made to the 25 were good ones.. .just not worth $2,000 to me for what I use the machine for.
