Just sold Hinomoto E16
I recently purchased a BX25 which I received last Thursday. Great little machine!

I worked it Thursday, Friday and Saturday. At about 11 hours I refueled. There must have been a gallon left because I put in a little less than 5 gallon to fill it up. Shortly after refueling the engine began to cut-off for a split second then would power back up. It seemed as if it were about to shut off then it would ramp up to full power again It did this about 5 times or so (within the hour) then no longer. I had to stop for the night.

Yesterday, Sunday, I worked it on and off about 6-8 hours, no such problems until very late in the day. It was getting dark but I had to finish putting in a 300 lb rock. So I put on the work light back up to the work spot, dug a hole with my backhoe and was done. As I was backing up into the garage with all the light on, the moment I hit revers the engine cut out totally. Although it started up right away it did this another 2 times before I was able to park it and shut it down. It is when I hit the reverse pedal that it cut out.

Here aremy questions:

1. Do you think the fuel has anything to do with it?
2. Can it be a fuel pump issue?
3. Can it be related to the alternater issue?

Has anyone else encountered such an experience. I am bummed out this new machine is doing this otherwise it's great. Please help if you can. Thanks you.

Sounds like something as simple as a safety switch, especially if it happens when you push on the pedal.
Is your butt completely seated or maybe you are leaning while looking over your shoulder backing??

I'd guess it it a safety switch issue as well. My new BX 25's seat switch has a been a little sensitive and the seat latch was not lubed well (or latched!) when I got it. It stalled when the fellow delivering it backed off the trailer and bounced a little...

If it is a safety switch issue, what is the fix?

I gave the dealer a heads up. They think it might be the seat safety swith. I will be really glad if that is all it is.

To see if it is, you could temporarily put a jumper wire into the switch and work it for a while. If the issue goes away, then the switch just needs to be adjusted so it's not as sensetive. I'm not familiar with the BX25, but look under the seat for a wire and plug. Unplug the wire and put a jumper in the plug that feeds to the seat. On my BX, that side of the plug had two female ends so I made up a jumper with two male flat/slot connectors. Let us know how it goes.

I was having a similar problem with 1 of the control's on the left side rear fender,I believe it is the one that would engage the blade's for the MMM.I have it tied back with a bungi till I can get it back to the dealer.Took me awhile to figure it out.

My BX25 did the same thing when new. It stalled several times when in reverse. Most of the time it was when backing up a slope in my yard. It was definitely the safety switch on the seat. I don't know if I just adjusted how I sit on the seat but it went away. I think the switch and seat mechanism just needs to be broken in.

It does not happen anymore for me. It lasted the first 10 hours or so.

I was also bitten by the PTO safety switch as well one morning as the tractor would not start. The switch slid back and was not able to be in contact wiht the lever. There are 2 screws on it, I slid it back and tightened the screws and that was the last of that.

Cheers,

Unfortunately I won't be able to check it out until this weekend. Thanks for the many feedback. I'm glad it appears to be only a minor problem.

The first time I used the BH mine cut off on me a few times after I faced the seat forward again. I found out I didn't latch the seat all the way down after turning it around and haven't had a problem since.

That was the first time I used the backhoe also. I will have to play around with that seat to see what it's doing. Thanks.
