Curious, what is shipping to AK? Did they break it down to a price per mile? When I bought my JD6415 it was $1050 to deliver from TN to MI

Thanks, all.

Yep... pictures all-around when it gets here! Have to show it compared to the 110. Maybe squeeze the 9n in the middle, too. :D

The 563SL was about $850 more than the 563NSL. I cut back on what I was originally shootin' for on the loader and the R1 radials, etc. (There's a LIMIT on what I could expect my wife to go along with...) ;)

Steve, I don't think I'm gonna plumb the rear blade for tilt right away. I just don't use tilt all that much.. angle and offset are the biggest uses with the top function as a distant third. So, I can get by with 2 SCV's for the time being. Down the road, I just might pursue a hydraulic arrangement in the fashion you laid out.

Oh yah, I forgot - maxed out the wheel weights - 2 per rear wheel.

It'll be shipped from Ft. Wayne to Alaska. The dealer will have to do some field install and setup before they turn it over to the shipper. I haven't checked on the mileage to IN from here but I gotta imagine it's close to 4,500.

Yes, the 540E pto is standard.

The 5083E is a great buy on some serious horsepower! I really looked hard at one. In the end - the problem with Cat 1 vs Cat II - and the implements I currently have tilted towards a 65hp machine. My attachments would not likely hold together real well over time hooked up to 83hp!!!

Nah, the buddy seat contest will just be my wife and youngest son. At least, until they get comfortable with the bigger iron and the new transmission! Then, I might be sittin' in the buddy seat.

Many of the dealerships I contacted didn't take my inquiry very serious at all..!! A number of them did not reply to my email(s) and several did not call back. The folk's at Mutton's wanted my business! I appreciated that attitude! I likely could have kept "kickin' the brush" and scared out another couple of percent off of MSRP - but, Shane has been straight up and it was easy to make the deal.

Hey AKfish,

From one 5m guy to another; ya did good, very good. About a year and a half ago I was in almost the exact same situation as you; 4720 vs 5000 series. I bought the 5m and have zero regrets.

AKfish,
Congrats on the tractor. I don't think you'll be sorry. I know you'll enjoy it. After it gets there, try to set aside a little time and let us know what you think of it.
Just remember, it takes a while for a diesel to reach operating temperature and the heater to start working. ;) But, it's still better to be in a cold cab than to face the weather without one. Besides, you should have a block heater with that cold weather package, right? Just plug it in the night before and it should be all warm and toasty. :D
