After following a number of threads on building cabs I decided to jump in and build one for my 2002 Kubota B7500. I found a used Joedale Perry cab on Kijiji from a Kubota Front mount mower series tractor. The seller was very helpful answering all manner of questions and sending me detailed measurements. The seller was even so helpful he delivered to cab to me (from 5 hrs away ) while on his way through snowmobilin. The first order of business was to add an attic hoist to my garage to allow me to lift the cab on and off the tractor while fitting it up. The opening into the attic is actually large enough to raise the cab into the attic to drive the tractor in underneath the cab. The attic hoist took a little longer to complete than I expected but works like a charm. I made up a bracket to mount to the cab lift point and did an initial test fitting. All the measurements the seller took were bang on and the cab fit as expected. The lower section on the cab was cut off and new lower section mocked up with 1.5" square tubing 1/8" wall. The cab uses the rear ROP mounts and new front mounts fab'd to the loader arms.

Kudos on the hoist and the cab, using one as you did would certainly cut down on the build time.

Definitely cut down on build time. The front mounts are done and the sides are welded up. Rear mounts welded.

How hard do you think it will be to find someone to do all the glass in that cab?

A quick question for Footer. How do you like the Lauren cab on your 4300?

That's quite an ambitious project to adapt a cab meant for one style of machine for another. I'll be looking forward to seeing the final product.

This cab is great very heavy duty construction with built in ROPS. I have the heater hooked up but barely need it just being out of the wind and heat from the engine is lots. Also works as good ballast as it is very heavy.

Thanks for the info Footer. Any thoughts on starting a thread on your Laurin cab with pros and cons, and of course pictures?

I'm afraid my welding and fab skills aren't on par with mjncad's but I'm hoping it will stay together. As for the glass guy, I have a wizard of a glass guy, he disappears through the week though. As able to spend some quality time but myself today, work in the garage. got the front window sill put in and a lower window framed, added a radius the area above the fenders and shortened the doors.

Great job, looking good so far:thumbsup:, it's not all that hard to build your own cab, only have to invest some time, and not try to build in a hurry. I did build my own and with the help and advice from others it looks good. I'll be watching this. Happy building:)

I'm ok with the big stuff, its all the little finishing detail that will slow me down. Trying figure out a way to do the front wall in one piece and be able lift the cab straight up and off. The loader controls are in the way and don't really have enough hose length to pivot them out of the way if I unbolt them. The next issue is along the same lines how to seal the area between the cab sides and the fenders? I think I'll either weld on filler metal or bolt on and make it removable and then add car weather stripping.

Was able to get one door welded together today. The original doors use 3/4 by 1 1/2 rectangle tubing everywhere I looked for it told me they don't carry it or they can get it but it will be pricey. I bought 3/4" square tubing to make the rectangle tubing but was able to salvage what I needed for the door from the original waste. All in all a productive weekend for a change.

Thanks for the compliment; but your fab skills are just fine too. In my case, I'm always amazed at how powder coating makes my welding look semi-good.

Every now and then I go and stare at my rig to design a cab in my mind, and I keep coming up with something that looks crappy to me.

I like the loader brace as I have making one of those on my ever growing to-do list and round-to-it collection.

Looking at the picture in your last post of the cab being suspended by your attic hoist reminds me of a Star Trek movie where the Borg queen's head and neck are lowered onto her body.
