New Cat 299D XHP

Ringpower. So far looks good. While its there look at where the cab bolts down in the front. That is a big inlet and lets debri get to the A/C under the floor. We have always used magnet material like the stick on signs you see on cars.

Working on a new 299D that a customer ordered.... like everyone knows the debris barrier kit is unavailable and no one knows when it will be available............ so i built one of my own design. it is still a work in progress but i got the side guards done today (that Cat has no interest in offering
for some reason) along with some of the door seals.... gona be doing a exhaust guard and also doing the intake with dust bowl but its gona be up behind the cab instead of over the radiator cores so you dont have to remove the bowl to lift the cover like the Cat kit does.

Man i wished my dealer would pay as much attention to detail as ya'll do great work.

taken care of, i built a guard that bolts to the car body and protects that area from crap flying off the fecon, also the hole under side of the cab is sealed with 1" foam plus it has the guards off a 299C that bolt to the cab and cover the holes just behind the cab bolt towers.....

finished the intake system today, $15 worth of pipe and about a hour time and alot cheaper and alot better than the Cat setup........ dont have to take the bowl off the lift the rad screen and plus it up high away from the hot fan air and dust but tucked behind the cab so it wont get knocked off....... have to finish the seals up ontop of the engine cover and do the breakin on the machine and its off to be abused by its new owner!!!!

forgot to take a picture if the turbo blanket.......******........ made a cover out of stainless and covered it in lizard skin and dynamat to protect the intake pipe and filter from heat and also protect the turbo from debris.....can run the machine full speed for 20 min and hold your hand on the sheild the hole time.

I hope he does...... i take pride in everything i do in our shop....and this is one of many projects that turn out way better than originaly thought...... thankfully for the new owner we just took back over CCE (heavy equipment worked on all CCE before, I work in the Rental Store).......... the end product would not have near as much care and thought put into it.... it doesnt hurt that my boss told me that our owner said make it perfect no mater what it takes.....

On the new "D" there are mounts for lifting on top of the cab, would be easy to build guard and bolt down there. Something to think about if you haven't already.

Does the pre-cleaner interfere when the cab is tilted back?

On the new "D" there are mounts for lifting on top of the cab, would be easy to build guard and bolt down there. Something to think about if you haven't already.

the cab roof is already 8 or 10 gauge metal with beefy reinforcement frame under the sheet metal to tie the lifting points together and to the frame....... not sure what the roof guard is for besides a place to bolt ambient coolers and stuff to. i have seen the aftermath of a 36"+ oak tree land ontop of a 299C (same cab) and it scratched the paint and broke the screen over the radiator.....that was it!! oh and the seat needed to be steam cleaned...:laughing:

its called the Rook, it is a armored entry machine for swat teams and police departments, there is a group of attachments designed for tasks related to geting into or gaining access to a hostage or other hardened entry situation. i just finished and delivered this machine about 3 weeks ago and it has already been used on 2 real missions.

Thanks Ring, AWESOME Work and some great pic's ! That helps a whole lot. Also thinking about fabing up a overhead steel guard that would set on steel brackets to support it above radiator/hydro cooler that would run from the back of the cab, over the rear torque tube for the loader arms to protect the cooling system from falling dead tree tops that could make for expensive repairs. Might also make it strong enough to house an aftermarket roof mount oil cooler. I would also have limb risers coming off the rear connected to the winch door on the rear. Lol ! Gotta lot of idea's, just a matter of getting enough $$$$ to cover it. Got it figured out in my head, just need to put it on paper and figure out clearance's and placement of brackets so not to interfere with lift arms, cab tilt, etc.:drink::drink::cool2:

you could do a cage like ASV used to make on there older machine. then cover it in expanded metal on hinges so you can get at coolers and rear door......

Ran 299d on these hot days and had no problems.Ran with a cimaf planer head,what a great combo.Found later that I was only running on 33gals instead of 40gals it did great on 33gals.Ringpower I told my cat rep to ck your mods.Robbie wish you could have made it to demo.
