I too have a BMX32 chipper/shredder and use it a lot. I have 40 acres of trees, a mix of conifers which I planted 20 years ago after a horrific wildfire, and bays which came back on their own from the burned stumps. We are now following the forestry plan of "thin & release" which mainly involves removing most of the bay trees, a prolific growth of 2-8" trunks with huge amounts of green leafy tops. The shredder gets huge amounts of this material, with the rest going through the chipper. I found using the lever to open the shredder chute to be a huge hassle, so removed the spring and used a bungee to keep it open. Once you learn the proper technique, large amounts can be fed without "chocking" the machine. I alternate between the chipper and shredder, chipping the larger branches until only the leafy stuff remains, and then moving the bunches to the shredder. The output goes into the dump bed of my UTV, and is then transferred to its destination. Huge amounts of mulch and ground cover have been generated, and the process continues. The larger limbs (4" and up) become firewood to heat the house.
