Yeah it's alot of money for a relatively small amount of time. I'm hoping the blower is going to cut my time down to under an hour because I can blow it in the woods and not drag it all into the yard. I've also still got the plow on the truck so if it's insanely cold or windy I could bust a path, then blow it away to full width when it warms up
2 or 3 hours with a truck? That must be one long driveway and no place to put the snow after a while. A blower on a tractor will be a dream. I'd skip the cab and not even build one. Just get dual remotes to control the chute and the deflector. If you can blow into the woods you have two sides to choose from depending on the wind direction. Go for the HP. Also, shop around for the best blower - large diameter second stage, 4 or 5 paddles, long chute so it will keep up and you can blow at a good speed. If you have to build something, some bolt a sheet of Plexiglas to their ROPS.

Hey another NB'er! You are exactly right. I have a long driveway and I have to drag it all down into the main yard. Then I start out the year 3x bigger then it has to be so I'll have room by the end of the season. I think you're right with directing it. I've got woods on both sides and should be able to blow with the flow and be done in no time!

Truck with a plow is much faster than the blower, with a few caveats. Early in the season it seems you are spending a lot of unproductive time plowing wide open swaths that are only plowed to have somewhere to put the snow as the season progresses.

The blower in my case is better around the house because the lot is small (lake lot) with no place to stack an entire winter snowfall. The county issues tickets when they get complaint about homeowners plowing their driveways across the county road to deposit the snow.

I use the truck at the shop and the tractor at the house.

My issue is the long wooded driveway. The first few storms are quick because you can do it with an angled blade, but once the snowbanks are half way up the truck it's straight blade dragging 800' into the main yard. If I could just blow it in the woods, I'd also be able to start off the year with way less plowing in the main yard. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm telling myself I'm right so I can have a tractor to play on the rest of the year lol
