Break-in, just be nice. Some folks on here just run the machine like they always would from day one. If you happen to be learning, just take it easy anyway. As far as idling, I read on here to bump it to 1500 RPM for warm ups and most idling, the engine runs smoother and shakes less. I wouldn't worry about idling too long, just don't leave it running all night since it's already going :laughing:
on the DPF, I found the tractor automatically ran a regeneration cycle in the first 30 hours for me, I have since used cardboard to block my radiator in the winter months because the engine would not get up to temp. If you are putting load on the engine in cold weather and it isn't up to temperature, it will start blowing black smoke (fuel), and this will clog the DPF faster. The regeneration cycle essentially heats the exhaust filter up and burns out the soot. I imagine this has to be done more often if you are running the engine cold and making smoke.
