Hi everyone my name is geoff. I have had a week that i prayed would never come, my grandfather spent his life collecting, restoring, and trading old john deere's but sadly passed away from a sudden and surprising stroke. I guess on the upside he spent his last days doing what he loved, fixing old small engines and using his deere's to cut down the pasture. As a kid i "helped" him by handing him tools, going with him to shows, and in his older days helping him with the heavy lifting, so these tractors mean more to us grandchildren than any green and yellow machine should. He willed the boys of the family a tractor each and i got my favorite one, the model h.
I come to this forum to try to learn the hobby and learn as much about keeping a tractor from the 40's running as good as it is today. I dont know the exact year or any details other than basic operation. I wish i would have learned more when i had a master to teach me but spending 5 years after highschool fixing fighter jets in the air force kept me away from the farm, by the time i got back in late 2010 grandpa had become a little to sick to get out to the barn to work on the tractors so he kept to his small engines and lawn tractors in the garage.
This tractor starts everytime and runs like a top and for my first tractor i couldnt ask for anything else. I plan to browse and learn as much from the forum as possible to keep this h running and learn more about it.
So i would just like to say hello and i look forward to learning as much as possible.
Geoff
