Gerard, your baby is nice and dirty now!! Is that a pile of dirt in the BH seat? It looks like it is, but maybe it's something else. That looks even worse than mine after the retention pond incident where I had it sucking the bottom of the tractor and wouldn't have gotten out if I hadn't been able to walk out with the loader. John, those are my leather gloves on the BH seat. Yup, finally gettin' her dirty. I started to open up my pond. Real messy work. G

BnPinVT,

Congrats on your new tool. It's good that your wife likes to use your DK35. If she operates it while you're pulling trees or ground positioning other objects, it will save time because you won't have to get up and down off the tractor countless times. Your job will be hooking up the chains, prying... Also, she can drive and dump while you walk and fill the bucket with rocks, sticks and other things that are to difficult to pick up with the FEL. Don't forget to teach her how to mow. My wife enjoys using our tractor and I hope she continues to do so. Just call it 'the tractor' and no one will take offence.

Dewave:

Got stuck yesterday /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif. Had to get the neighbor to pull me out with his tractor /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif. It started to thunder storm about 1/2 hour after I got stuck /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif. No photos of the tractor stuck, but I can get some of where it was. G

Here's another pic of my tractor...oh, and my wife. Maybe I'll look into something used for myself.

Congratulations on the new tractor. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
I bought our brand new tractor last September, and my wife continued to drive the old one, because that is the one she was used to. Everything changed a couple of weeks ago, and I can get her off the new one! /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Oh well, seat time is seat time, no matter which tractor I'm on!
Have fun and be safe! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Hey, guys, in truth I'm grateful that my wife is totally "into" the tractor. Indeed, together we can and will accomplish much. ATI sells a grapple attachment for the loader that Rusty at Cherry Creek Sales (local guy) is going to install for us. This should really speed moving the brush to the burn pile.

No one has left any comment on rotary cutters. Was my question too broad or should I have posted it in another section? Just itchin' to get clearing but won't buy anything 'till I learn more from you guys. Thanks again.

By His grace,
Bill

I must have missed the part about the rotary cutter.
A 5' heavy duty cutter or a 6' standard duty cutter should work.
I run a 6' King Kutter (standard duty) brush mower with slip clutch. I have no problem with power running the 6' cutter.
The roughness of the fields I mow control my mowing speed more than HP.

Vince,
Thanks for the reply. I'm planning on clearing a-lot of small 1" saplings and some honeysuckle. I figured a 60" cutter to match the width of the tractor. Is this the right method for clearing underbrush and saplings with a tractor?

Yes,
The 5' cutter would work fine for what you plan.
A 6' cutter would also work, but may be more exspensive to purchase vs the little time saved mowing.
So that decision is up to you.
