New drive way: ashphalt or concrete -tolerances

But let me tell you, that is a hard job. Mine started with a 10X12 patio area. It looked so good the wife doubled it.
That looked so good she tripled it.

I could not stand up for three days after that work. At least she brought me water while I was on my hands and knees laying them.

I think I counted over two thousand pavers when I was done.
I cannot be sure as my brain was fried from the summer heat.

I liked the look but just could never justify the cost in alarge area.

I have a rather long driveway that is covered with caliche stone, which is a common road material here in Texas. I maintain it every few months with my box blade and it looks really nice. I do have one fairly steep area that washes slightly. The few odd weeds that grow in the center are either graded down with the boxblade, or sprayed with a generic glyphosate compound (i.e. Roundup) that keeps them well in check.

If you go with rock, make sure you get some sort of "dirty" crush, which includes all of the fines and powder. This helps your drive set up and get hard.

This would be my choice given the situation you describe.
