It just gets worse....we use Quickbooks Pro 2005, and this morning I went to enter info. Turns out QB 2005 will NOT work with IE 7, and the QB site documents this. Unfortunately, they tell you to just remove IE 7, and I already know that is not a complete cure...it may allow QB 2005 to work, but it leaves ghosts in the machine that create other IE problems. This may end up being a clean reinstall of the OS if I find too many more such problems.

I also downloaded it through auto updates but it did give me the option , kind of snuck it in, but I decided to try it, I had it for 10 minutes and I hated it, like yahoo it wants to take too much control. I went to control panel and deleted all of its components, now back to the way I like it, working for me, not me putting up with it.. John

If you have system restore active, Windows should have created a restore point prior to installing IE7. If so, you can completely remove it by by going Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore and picking a point prior to IE7 installation.

I had installed it in the Beta version, and didn't like it. I used the restore feature to eliminate it from my computer. Doubt that I will go back.

So I would have thought too. According to the tech at Fidelity, IE 7 is apparently a bit more insidious than that. I have done both....the "remove prgoram" route, and the "restore" route. Both apparently leave some components of IE 7, or the update that was done when it came on board. I am trying to ensure that we don't download it on our other PCs, and I just won't be able to use QB and perhaps some other things on this one PC.

I have Firefox and IE installed. I only use IE for one particular site that I use for work. Firefox is not supported on that site, but for everything else I use Firefox. The improvement with Firefox is night and day difference. I read about the problems with the new IE earlier in the week and turned auto update off. Not unusual for Microsoft to put something out that has not been tested fully yet. Just throwing out new software and fixing it with patch after patch is not acceptable to me.
