"Most folks who plant food plots for deer plant hunting plots. ... Their main functions are to draw deer for harvest and provide nutrition. Feeding plots, when used, are usually larger than hunting plots, and their main function is to serve as places where deer can feed and feel safe."

OooooKay.

It's two different things although usually related...food plots and hunting plots. Eventually I hope to have hunting plots, but for now just food plots. The 80 acres I have as an example used to be overrun with deer. After years of over hunting and poor management they seem almost extinct here. Couple of does here and there and on the rare occasion you'll see a buck, but it's usually a scraggly little 4 or 6 point.

There will be no hunting on my property, not even by me, for several years with both spring and fall food plots planted in an attempt to increase the deer population. Once there is a large and healthy enough herd my family and I can begin hunting the property and those food plots will now be "hunting plots".

I see you’re in Edinboro. I’m nearby in Meadville. If going for Kubota, definitely check out Greenhill Farms in Cambridge Springs if you haven’t already. We’ve had great service after the sales with them. Have a Woods backhoe on order from them currently.
