You may find a few options for the financing. Not expert on the options but check around.

Yanmar YT359. The JD 5 series is definitely bigger than the Yanmar but a lot depends on how much money do you have to spend and what you are going to be doing with the machine. If you are going to be pulling a plow and using a lot of ground engaging equipment I definitely wouldn't buy a hydrostatic machine. If you are doing a lot of loader work then you would definitely want a hydrostatic machine. A shuttle shift might be the best of both worlds.

I don't agree with the statement about "Not" using ground engaging implements with an HST tractor;I have been working 10-15 acres for 15 years using two different HST tractors.Average "food plotter" does minimal acres compared to a commercial operation.

From what it sounds like this, this person is not a "food plotter" from his original post ( please see below ). It sounds like this will be a small commercial operation. He will be actively working his property and not running a no till drill over it once a year for a food plot. I'd guess this person will easily put a couple hundred hours on a machine a year. Like I said before, If I were him I don't think I'd consider a hydrostatic tractor to perform these kinds of tasks. From what I have read and heard, ( please correct me if I am wrong ) the hydrostat fluid gets very hot if they are worked too hard. I'd don't see too many 8 and 9 series hydrostatic John Deere tractors.

Uses
- Tilling/ preparing the land
- Raised plastic mulch beds
- Transplanting / water wheel
- What ever else is needed on farm of that size
- Looking into getting a front loader also

I put 300 engine hours on my Kubota L3560 HST+ annually, in warm Florida.

During summer operation the engine temp indicator does not move up while running a 1,000 pound, heavy duty Rotary Cutter nor when pulling a 1,000 pound Monroe Tufline Disc Harrow through dirt.

Operating both these implements requires almost full throttle in medium HST range.

How big of a mower do you plan on pulling? That would be the most demanding task and it want at least an 8’ behind 50 hp. You can always go snail slow when the going gets tough or just take smaller bites with the mower. You can’t make a little mower take more bite and you often can’t go fast enough to utilize the hp with a little mower. It’s not often I would say this but 50 hp tractor really seems overkill for the intended use.

HST transmissions are optimal for Loader work. Most ag tractors are not primarily used for Loader work.

HST transmissions are fine for field work, however fuel economy is 5%-10% less than shuttle shift.

Farmers with heavy tractors, cultivating long fields, are unwilling to pay the fuel cost penalty for HST when forward/reverse direction changes are few, so tractor manufacturers do not produce 80+ horsepower HST models.

That's a tougher question then it sounds I think new above 50 HP I am probably looking at 36k with a front loader.

Around 50-horsepower, depending on tractor model, the Three Point Hitch changes from Category 1 to heavier Category 2 specifications.

Category 2 tractors are sold in less volume than Category 1 tractors, so Category 2 implements cost considerably more.

Study Three Point Hitch specifications carefully.

Hate to burst everybodys bubble, but to say that hydrostatic transmissions are not produced and used in tractors over 80hp is completely false. Many manufacturers like Fendt and others produce tractors with hydrostatic variable speed transmissions in sizes pushing 400hp with impressive fuel economy ratings. These tractors are designed for tillage work not putzing around 10 acres. Combines, Self Propelled Forage Harvesters, Bulldozers, Payloaders, Excavators and many more pieces of equipment all use hydrostatic transmissions or drives with very minimal problems that everyone likes to claim will happen. Do not be afraid of a tractor with a Hydrostatic transmission

Aren't those machines considered CVT and not hydrostatic ? I went to the Ohio Farm Science review and we talked to the rep from AGCO / Challenger and he was bragging up their new CVT based high HP tractor. He didn't mention anything about it being a hydrostat.
