Forks New forks - What are your favorite uses?

I would not get the clamp on forks that go on the bucket for safety as they will put your center of gravity out farther and also puts the load out farther and that could be a bad thing plus depending on how much you lift with them it will put alot of stress on the bottom of the bucket.
This all depends on what you're trying to do with forks.
With a little common sense and not being out to lift a MAC truck much can be accomplished with the clamp on forks without incident.

Did I miss it? What do these forks cost approximately? They look like something I need(?):D

The clamp on forks can be had for $150+ while the true forks with frame rated for over 3000lbs or so usually costs $600-800 plus.

Moving logs and holding them up while I use my chain saw, brining firewood to the house, moving pallets, moving my bush hog around the yard, moving my antique rake yard ornament so I can bush hog around it, moving building materials, holding up a buddy to do wiring or put up siding, raising a beam for a lean-to shed, moving bales of hay (I don't have a hay spear yet), raising my trailer to change a tire, unloading heavy stuff from my truck bed, and more stuff I can't think about now. I've also got a place in the middle of my forks to put in my 2" trailer ball attachment from my truck, so I also use the forks to move trailers around without having to hitch them to the back of my truck. I use my forks much much more than I use my bucket.

I also recently got a set of forks. I had been borrowing a set, I used them so much I got my own. Not sure where my bucket went , I havent used it since I got the forks! :D

Got mine from Payne Tools.
They hook on the lip of the FEL and have clamp type screws that tighten down. They also have a stabilizing bar that hooks between them.
These forks are the greatest thing since sliced bread!! I still haven't lifted a palette  .
Oh yeah. Moving railroad ties, boards for fence, rocks for wife, hay for horses, trash bins/barrels.The list goes on and on and on and on.

Wish I wouldn't have read this thread. Now I need some pallet forks!

What about the kind that mount on the front of the bucket? Any reason not to get that type? I have some tin and some landscape timbers I was thinking about today and how I was going to move them with my new front end loader....

Where can a person get hold of one of these bens.A decent used one would be nice.

Look at orchard equipment suppliers. The ones i have are vented fruit bins for grapes, citrus or similar.

Harvest Bins - Orchard Valley Supply, Inc.

Or look out for auctions when farms or fruit packing operations shut up shop to find em half price or less.

And yeah just run a chain with u shackles or good rope through the bottom of the bin where the forks slide in, and at least one higher up near the top, chain or tie it to the fork frame. On the vented bin i go through the vents that face the fork frame on either side and around the re-inforced centre vertical.

oh boy the satey nazis are gonna be after you!

They can come catch me in the act :p :D

But i would suggest to anyone that they dont let employees use something like this to avoid legals. :)
