John Deere 4100 & John Deere 2020
My neighbor, who owns his own small welding business built these for my 4100. I gave him a couple of pics of ones I had seen posted on here. Thanks to everyone who gave us the ideas! He also built me a disc hiller which I will post some pics of sometime... Sure is nice to have a welder next door!

Hey, "This is the Build it Yourself" Forum, not the "Built by my Neighbor" forum:eek:

But seriously, they look great, forks are a great thing to have!

And welcome to TBN:D

I like the versatility of front or rear mount. Very slick. Nice fab and paint. What did you have to give for those? Just wondering as to which way to go with my projects. Seems as though sometimes you can buy dealer stuff cheaper than building yourself, with steel prices the way they are these days. Thanks.

I don't have the final bill yet- but I will post as soon as I know it!

Mark (I hope that is your name!)

Do you ever find you wish that you could curl the fork more when you are carrying something near to the ground?

I am getting ready to make a set, and I was going to make the mount so that the QA is leaning forward somewhere between 20 and 45 degrees forward of vertical so I could curl them down low if I did not want something round (telephone pole or log) to roll off the front.

I am just curious if I am making too much of this and I should simplify my design. I really like the way yours turned out.

Thanks

Mark,

I got to the third picture & realized just how useful those forks are going to be. (assuming that's you in the picture...)

Very cool!

BX 24- I was worried about the curl also especially when you look at the JD bucket and see that the QA mounts sit off of vertical. I haven't had problems so far but I have only tested them a little bit. They do curl more than you would think since the forks are so long that any bit of movement (curl) at the base results in a large change at the end of the forks (I think you could probably figure out the exact amount with some sort of algebraic equation but I am not exactly a math scholar). It really doesn't take much curl to keep things from rolling off but I agree with your concern and will continue to test them.

Defective- No, that's not me in the pictures- that's actually my neighbor who built them! He calls himself a "welder-on-wheels" since he has a mobile welder unit and for the more obvious reason of the wheelchair- I think it's kind of clever. I tease him now that if I don't like his welding I'll pick him up in his chair with the forks and not let him down!

JJMarotz-
The forks ended up running about $475.00. It was a little hard to get an exact number because I picked up some of the parts and my neighbor picked up some, but this amount is close...

Not a bad deal. One other ? Are those Deere quick attach brackets for the loader mount, or hand fabed? Deere's site sucks when it comes to certain parts. If so do you happen to have a pt#. Thanks again.
