New forum idea

I think any topic related to rural living would be acceptable and those who aren't interested in that topic should just not click on it. The thing that irks me is folks complaining about things on the TV or internet when all they have to do is change channels or just not click on the topics. I think many folks who complain just search for something to complain about rather than just ignoring the stuff they don't like.
I go thru the topics almost everyday if I am at home and only click on the stuff I am interested in and may contribute to. If my contribution has already been mentioned, I just click off and go on to something else.

I'd settle for no being annoying! That's the golden rule in our house.

I hear ya!

Me...I am an oxy-moron kind of Father. I have(4) daughters ages 4, 11,12 and 13. When they get to squabbling I'll yell down to the bedrooms, "Girls...Fight Nice!"

I like the Walmart analogy that a previous poster mention, where else can someone go to to buy anything from hotdogs to hammers to firearms and some aspirin, needed when going from forum to forum trying to get info on chainsaw repair, tractor repair, garage repair, truck repair and day to day life's difficulties.............

Ill give some of my thoughts.....

First......there is a big difference between TBN and many other forums.

And that is......TBN is about tractors.......and probably 99% of its members have an unrelated career and owning a tractor is just part of life.

Forestry forum.....most of the "experts" there are loggers or something in a related trade
Same goes for most of your automotive forums.....guys are mostly auto mechanics
Electrical forums......yup....them guys are electricians

ETC ETC ETC......the list goes on.

So....with a vast array of different professions and backgrounds of members who frequent TBN.....it is an excellent place to ask questions in just about ANY topic. Because there is probably someone here who does / has done it.

Second....I personally dont think we need more sub-forums. I personally dont pay any attention to what forum a post is in. I click "todays posts" and read posting titles. I read whatever catches my eye that I think might be interesting.

But when posting a new thread.....I have a hard time deciding which forum to post in.....because many times something could go in many.

Like lets say someone is building a homemade 3PH logsplitter and wants to post pics. Should it go in Picture forum? Hydraulics? Build it yourself? Welding? Attachments? .....

Then sometimes a new member posts a question in several different forums......same question......and its a headache if you only are following one of them and trying to figure out what people are talking about or replying to.

Just curious...how many own a Band saw or circle mill?

'Hudson Oscar 36 pro' here...

I have a HF Sawmill and for the price it does a great job.
Watched a utube video where a guy po-pooed them while trying to cut a log without the dog set or head clamps down.
We could help him here.
I also found the FF and joined because of the mill and they are friendly and helpful there but it seems hard to post pics and the owner
does get testy at times.
I would like to see a Sawmill Forum and FF has a lot of advertisers that would also work well here.
AND, I did post a pic of my tractor moving my new counter top from shop to house!! :)

Here more great TRACTOR threads:

1) Welded table base for concrete dining table
2) What did you do on the first day of retirement?
3) Countertops
4) Kentucky weather, again.
5) Experience with spray foam insulation
6) recomendations for a fitness tracker watch that can operate stand alone / no phone
........

The only thing that would have been better was if you posted a pic of your tractor moving your new counter top from shop to house, along with your welded table base, after spraying foam insulation during Kentucky weather, on your first day of retirement, so you bought yourself a fitness tracker watch that can operate stand alone / no phone
