New garage time!

No project is worthy unless it involves buying more tools.

So far I’ve bought a 24” bucket for my backhoe, a bobcat, a trencher, and this miter saw for the garage and I’m still way shrewd of the game of paying someone else to do it.

After making all those 2x8" cuts with a 10" miter saw that doesn't fully cut a 2x8", I figured it was time to make an upgrade since I'm doing quite a few more cuts. First I was looking at harbor freight's admiral 12" sliding miter saw for $200 with a $20 coupon. The 20% off coupons exclude admiral brand. I figured it was a long shot but I'll see if there's anything on craigslist. There was endless junk, but then one 2 towns over was for sale for $300, a hitachi 12" sliding miter saw with stand. shot the guy a text and boom, proud owner of a new saw that will make cuts much easier.

Those cement truck drivers can be real asses, they dump the leftover and the cleanout anywhere they want

Every one we have had has asked where to put the washout. No problems with any of them.

I’ve never had any problem with them. I’ve even had them drive to a different job a short ways away to dump.

I would venture to guess it depends on how you interact with the driver.

Not concrete, but I’ve had customers treat me like crap on deliveries. Talking down to me because I’m just the dumb truck driver....

Never had a problem with ours, but likely 2 good reasons 1. Our concrete guy is a major contractor using these guys. 2. We have bought a serious amount of concrete (several hundred yards) over the years. That said, wife’s brother drove concrete truck a few years and he related that sometimes a driver would treat axxhole customer “special”.

I've never had a problem, but I always have a spot for them to clean out there trucks too.

One time I was driving from a job and there was a cement truck along the side of the road, dumping his truck into the drainage ditch. That has always stuck out to me as something kind of odd.

The owner of the cement company said this was the largest exposed aggragate job they have ever hauled, and other than watching them unload it i never had any contact with driver until the hydr line broke in the drive way, they came the next day and soaked up what was left. When done pouring they just rotate chute and dump one side or the other, at least it wasnt on a finished yard.

Catching back up with the thread:

Always love a new garage project. Good luck on yours. Seems to be a decent size.

I'm a concrete contractor. It's always interesting to me when I see somebody pour a job themselves in order to save money. Many times, it goes poorly for them. Kinda like when I decide to frame something :D
