heres another. As far as gas vs diesel is concerned when our dealer was looking for one in this area he talked with another dealer that had a diesel and a gas model they said they weren't going to order anymore gas gators because of the power difference, but I haven't expirienced any gas gator.

How do you guys normally post pictures because I remember them usually just being and "attachment" ? Also if any of you guys want a picture of something specific Id be glad to take one for you.

Putting 60-100 hours per year on a diesel Gator will not hurt it. The key is to run them and work the engine at different RPM ranges. Where I live, this is NOT a problem. I will tell you the difference in the power of the gas and the diesel is notable to me. My dealer "turned up" the Kawasaki gas engine before letting me try it. It would go about 30-35 MPH before leveling off. The diesel he could not modify, so it is stock. Even with this top speed discrepancy, the diesel will climb the long steep roads and pull loads up our hills much better than the gas model. I even pull my ZTR on a 6x10 trailer to my nieghbor's to help him mow and coming back up my road (a solid 10% grade for three miles) it just keeps plugging and does not slow. The gas one I think would have bogged substantially doing the same, but I did not use it for this purpose.

Kude, great looking cab!! Do those have heat and air?

billbill1,

I have the optional heater. AC was not an option. Right now, popping open the front window seems to be enough for cooling. On a ninety degree day maybe the doors will have to come off.

The cab is better than I thought it would be, as the dealer did not have one to look at the time of ordering.

As an afterthought, the mirrors would have been worth getting. Also the sound insulation would be nice.

Yeah I love those cabs. My dealer said he had one with A/C I never asked him about that even though I didn't think it was an option. The cab seemed like it costed too much especially since I would rather have an open area during the summer. We did however get a windshield but its not coming along with all the other accessories on tues. Today however we got our gator gear organizer but it's raining out now so I didn't take any pics. But it really adds a lot of space and will come in handy.

darkday,

We had a rainy, blustery day here in N. llinois yesterday. It was kind of nice climbing into the HPX, turning up the heat, turning on the window wiper and driving around doing a few quick chores (picking up stuff mostly).

Today looks like much the same only stormier. I look forward to going out into it now with the HPX.

Thank you all for the insight. I hope my dealer will let me demo a 06 for a day or two. I think the diesel is the way to go.

Darkday:
I just ordered a Trail Gator. Would have liked a diesel, but JD doesn't offer the Trail version with a diesel. Also, JD doesn't have the clutch/belt enclosure protection package available on the diesel unit -- this moisture protection measure has been described on other web forums as nearly essential if you use the Gator in inclimate conditions (rain, snow, etc). Did your dealer address that ?
Oh, and another question: in your picture, the hitch receiver appears to be a 2" size. However the JD configurator has the receiver option only as a 1-1/4" size. What size is yours? And if 2", how did you get that ?
