New GC2410 Questions re: Diff lock and Hydraulics

The issue is intermittent as sometime it will lift the front tires off the ground and other times it will not.

Is it possible that you are occassionally pushing the control lever forward and into the float position?

On mine, when I push the lever slightly forward the bucket goes down and keeps going down. But If I pushi it all the way forward, it goes past a detent and into float position.

Depending on your tractor, that detent could be either distinct or subtle.

I took it to the dealer today and they also mentioned the float position on the hydraulic valve. But after demonstrating to them with the bucket with the cutting edge down the tractor will not lift itself off the ground when the brakes are applied. It seems that the tractor doesn;t have enough lift capacity when the brake is on and needs the back wheels to be free. Even when free though it occassionally will not lift. We tried another new 2410 and it worked fine with the brakes on or off. We also tried a 2300 with 300 hours on it and it was doing the same. The dealer tried a number of things and kept the tractor so that they could contact Masssey Ferguson tomorrow to see if this is normal or not. In the meantime they did lend me a 2300 with FEL so that I could continue doing some landscaping. I was very appreciative of that.

Will keep you posted on the outcome.

I had what sounds like the opposite problem with my FEL. Last winter it would not go into float and was constantly lifting the front of the tractor.

It seems that in my case, the detent was not holding the control lever in float position and it was slipping back into the down pressure position. They replaced the hydraulic control thing (probably not the correct part name) and now there is a very distinct feel when it goes into the float position - and it stays put. All is well - and was fixed under warranty by a great dealer and field service technician.

Sound like you have a good dealer working on your side, which is a huge benefit.

Good luck - and I'll be interested in what they find.

Picked up the tractor from the dealer yesterday. It seems that the hydraulic pressure was not set to the standard. They verified a few other tractors as well and noticed that there is a variation of pressures from the factory. Used the tractor yesterday for a few hours and it worked perfectly.

All is well.
