Appreciate all the responses: What are some opinions when it comes to premium vs. the other. For example: does the larger HP and weight of the 2705E far out weigh the "comfort extras" of the 1742 premium additions?

Depends on how you work and your personality. For example I really wanted an electric over hydraulic PTO. I do a lot of wood chipping with a PTO chipper, and with my old tractor's live PTO I had to get on, sit down and use the clutch to turn the PTO on or off. With the independent PTO on the Branson I can turn the PTO on or off while standing next to the tractor, on the same side that the chipper's controls are on. It's much more convenient. As a result instead of leaving the chipper on and tractor at PTO rpm I can turn it off when I stop chipping for a while to drag more brush over. It's quieter and uses less fuel.

I owned two spartan tractors before purchasing my Kubota Grand L, L3560. If you are over 55 years of age it is well worth spending the money for de luxe kit. Easy hook up may save you a stroke or heart attack on a hot day.

I want to thank everyone for taking the time to offer their thoughts. After going back and forth I have decided to purchase the MF1742 with the DL125 loader. Found a good deal on a 2016. I am over 50 and with "rickety" knees the added features are nice to have. I have always wanted a Kubota but all my family has Massey tractors and they have been excellent. Plus I have a reputable long time dealer. My concerns are dampened a little by the warranty offered. Like most have said, both quality machines. Problems are mostly random with both brands. Just seems like you play the odds. Some I have talked to hate Kubota and say they are Junk, some I have talked to hate Massey and say they are junk. I did talk to a respected guy who worked on my friends older Massey 35 and when asked about our Mahindra dealer he just looked up and asked if they had a parts counter. Which we all knew they did not. They are a car lot who sell tractors on the side. Thanks again, appreciate all the comments.

Congrats on the new machine! Seems like all the recent complaints on the 17xx machines are related to electronic controls of the HST system. Hopefully that won't be present in yours since it's a shuttle shift

Well, I did an about face the next day I went to purchase my tractor. I decided to stop by the John Deere dealership and after getting a great price, test driving and doing homework I purchased a 4052M with an FEL with Hydro. Thanks again for all the input
