Ben, I use Stanadyne in both my PD-engined TDI and my tractor. (VW recommended) No, these engines don't have a carburetor, just a mechanically-controlled diesel injection pump, like an old Peugeot 504D, for example (yep, had one a them, too!).

I've found that my 2310 DEFINITELY likes those glow plugs when it gets cold; I've also installed the pricey (but it fits like a glove & works very well) M-F block heater for added help in the winter.

I've got a 2010 GC2610 which is similar. During the summer months it still needs the glow plugs to start. Up to about this time of year, it will start without using the block heater but not for much longer. During freezing weather, it might not start with fifteen minutes of block heater, but always with thirty minutes. If I have it on for an hour, it will start without the glow plugs. I find this a lot less hassle than dragging out the jump start stuff and a lot easier on the equipment.

The tech who went over my tractor did say the Isekis do not like to start cold. I'll add the block heater to the list of upgrades. It's currently in an attached garage that doesn't get too cold in the winter (well insulated) and is heated with a wood stove when I'm working in it.

The tech is right.. They don't start like a DI Yanmar engine.. My Deere started instantly, my Massey takes more glow plug, a block heater and some cranking to get it running when it's cold.

Wood splitter???.... 3PH????.... How did you do hydraulics.... A brochure for the 1700 series state there is a "power beyond" accessory but neither corporate or local dealer can seem to find/supply any information... When I do GOOGLE search with part number I get a John Deere setup that does not relate to the MF...

I suppose you are running it off back hoe hydraulics?

You can just use the lines that are there for the hoe, or use a longer line and tie into loader spool. My splitter came with its own spool, just needed to buy quick disconnects.

You can use any spool (think I bought mine for $180) and hook it into power beyond, either with your back hoe lines or if you don’t have those tapping into front loader. I use a two spool unit to support top and tilt for grader box and my “snow plow” which is an old back blade I’ve reworked to push snow backwards and use horse mat on the edge to keep concrete happy.search my posts I have it all written up.

The 1705 and 1715 do not have hoe's or hydraulics plumbed out for power beyond (hoe)... Only 1710 and 1720 have hoe and power beyond hydraulics for hoe....

This is why I question if its a 1715 and has power beyond, but it appears you have 1710...

Can you not tap into the loader spool? I am assuming they don’t use a different front spool for hoe vs non-hoe GC? I was actually going to do this to be able to run my splitter up front. Haven’t gotten to it.

I was sort of thinking of using splitter at rear (3PH) with spool on splitter (or any device) .... Was in mental state (thinking) as my friends DJ, which has a pair of connections out to rear with "U" shaped hose that loops back hydraulic fluid when no rear device in use, but removed when hooked to something like splinter with its own spool valve....

Note rear "power beyond" connection!...

A GC doesn't have the flow to run a splitter. Will it move the wedge in and out, yes, but very slowly. GC size SCUT'S are just not made for it. I used one on my TC45DA and it was barely enough to get anything done, I have since bought a Honda powered splitter, now I split a cord an hour..

You kind of miss the point or I probably was not clear, I'm asking how to get power beyond, it not about what implement/accessory I will be using off back of tractor... I only used log splitter as example of capabilities for power beyond.... Maybe I want to control a scraper or hydraulic top link or some thing I dream up like hydraulic winch....What I uses it for does not matter, its all about how do I get it...
