Kioti DK45
Okay people, I've been lurking around this board for nearly over a month, scoping out all the opinions & the what-nots. Your say-so's have lead me to the purchase of a new DK45 with a KL1590 FEL & R4 tires (been learning the lingo). I have to say THANK YOU for all the info, you've people been a great resource. Now that I've blurted that out, let me fill you in on the goings' on, since that seems to be the norm here. I started discussions with a out-of-my-state dealer in hopes of getting a better deal compared to the gold-digging dealers near me. I will say that during my search, I found a place in IN (thats' the state) that was posting a good deal on the 'net,' called to confirm, just would have cost me maybe $300 to go 'get it.' But why not find somebody closer? In stepped a dealer in VA that would deliver To-My-House for just $100 over the 'net' price. I chose two other options (upgraded to KL1590 & R4), let me have them for the additional Dealer Cost, not starting from the begining (gotta' love'em for that). But why any of you NUMNUTS never mentioned this in any postings, I can only guess everybody is rich & can pay up-front instead of financing, cause' three days before delivery he hits me with a dreaded 'finance insurance charge' of over $800! But being the 'Murphy's Law' person that I am, I accounted for being able to handle the extra payment (that backhoe attachment will have to wait, dear). So it arrives without fanfare (nice, friendly delivery person, just 5 hrs. late), beautiful sight, can't wait to drive it around without an audience. First thing wrong is a hole in-the-seat. Small, but just as annoying. After close-up, a rubber guide in the track of the hood is missing (keeps the sheet metal from rubbing together), other side panel sitting cocked, not put on right (not the selling dealer's fault). Cover for remote hydraulic/lift/draft control is slightly bent (will straighten that out myself), & the seat belt latch is stuck under the seat mounting frame, have to unbolt the seat frame to get it out. Now I also don't much care for the way the wiring was done to the rear lighting, so I will make a few improvements to see that it's better protected. And WHERE'S THE CUPHOLDER? A man can't stay on his new toy for hours without being able to quinch the thirst, I never want to get off. And don't worry, I'm sure the problems will be resolved in short order with the help of the dealer. But for what it's worth, this Kioti is a great machine, I feel like I've got the best deal compared to what I have been reading about others, and you've all been a great bunch.

I did finance my tractor, and I never mentioned this charge because it did not happen to me !
Dealer delivered 80 miles (no charge).
No surprise charges !!
The hood rubber guide missing, and the seatbelt under the seat .(I feel the dealer should have caught that during prep.)
Good luck with the new machine

Shado: Update your profile! (I'm in Virginia, too)

For those with no cash but equity in your property:

Home equity line = no closing costs, 5% interest, tax-deductible interest, 30 year amortization schedule, all you do when you buy is write a check.

In all my years of buying vehicles and real estate, the only lender-required loan-related insurance I have had to pay is title-insurance on houses.

Congratulations on the DK45 - it's a good unit.

Well, it nice to hear from those that have experienced situations of the past. As I sit here in my garage connected to the 'net' via my broadband network, my DK45 at my side for inspiration, I feel I must point out some of the basic interpretations that others have revealed. Borrowing the equity against your real estate is a great concept, as Markie61 has pointed out. But to the banks, it Don't Mean Squat if there's no house on the property. I'm sitting on nearly 24 acres of 'paid-off' land with a single wide (you have to start somewhere). So that method was not really an option, and NO WAY will I ever get into a variable-rate loan again. And's being only less than 10 minutes to the Super Walmart, I'm not exactly 'out-in-the-boonies' to reflect on what the land is worth. So no house, no loan. And that insurance deal, I was notified over a week before delivery that it would be required, but the dealer assured me it would be 'cheap,' not having previously checked on the rate until 3 days before delivery, catching me off-guard and not allowing for any time to further research the matter. It's almost like it was the first time they ever sold a tractor with all the other going's on they were doing. But reading those postings shoppintractors listed did not quite cover all the bases. I contacted my home owner's carrier, they were over $200 more compared to Agricredit (Kioti), but then again there's that stipulation about 'roll-over,' which I'm not sure if my home owner's would have covered (remember that 'no-time' left to research?) But I'm really not fussing that much about having to get the insurance, it's just the lack-of-experience that the dealer seemed to encompass in handling the matter (or was it all just a ploy?) And oh Wolbert, I guess it would depend on 'who' was doing the financing. Agricredit (Kioti) requires it, and for the full purchase amount, not just the 'leftover' balance. I would be interested as to the details on how the insurance was avoided. Might be a state statue, that how some of those 'sweepstakes' are in-eligible. But I don't really fault the dealer for the 'prep,' you have to understand it was not on his lot to begin with, came straight out of Wilson from somebody else and they never took it back to their shop for 'prep.' Seems there is a shortage of DK45's since the plant was on strike (that's the way vacation time comes around for them), would have been over 30 days before something gets shipped in, so it came from another place down south that had not moved off the lot for a while. But thanks for the insight fellas (& ladies), good to hear that I'm not just typing in stuff to a vacant audience, I'll try to get around to doing a profile sometime, hardly anyone likes to deal with a mystery man. But I am going to see if I can outdo that fella with the dog-on-seat with my two mutts. Take care.

RedDog,I hope the Kubota people don't find out about your cupholder,I think they had it first and you know they also invented the tractor, the color Orange and would never think of copying anybody else's idea........right?

I financed through Agricredit and got an insurance policy through my local agent/Erie Ins. $50/year with Agricredit as the loss payee (value $16,500). $800 sounds like way too much. I believe one has thirty days to cancel those policies through credit companies. I would check that out.

So, if one would have an opportunity to cancel within 30 days finding another carrier for the insurance, what companies would people reccommend provided it would meet the same criteria as what Agricredit would require? As I mentioned earlier, my own agent (and it's a nationally recognized carrier) came up with a policy $200 more than what I already have, & they are already the recipents of premiums for my 2 vehicles, homeowner's, and 3 life policies. You think they would come up with a better offer. I also hope there would not be much hoopla to get the monthly payments adjusted also if the insurance could be canceled.
