Hello all, my name is Keith. Right now the closest thing to a tractor I own is a JD LA125, please spare the laughter. I plan on clearing a lot of wooded property on my current land and have plans to buy more in the future.

Nice area, Monroe. Used to live in Georgia, but came back to my home state of Virginia for family and cooler climate. Your JD will not be a lot of help clearing land, but is good for just getting around. When you decide to go bigger, look at the used market. It's a great way to get more power for less, and an older piece of equipment to learn on. I started with a JD 2030 and used it for a lot of heavy stuff for ten years, then moved to a CUT for comfort and accessibility.

Enjoy the land. It's in limited supply.

Yes, buying used is the best way to start. You'll want something you can start adding to the 3 point, rear deck, auger, and something to scratch with. There are plenty of used attatchments out there. Also, I think a welder is a good idea.
