Actually, that shop would be our house. It is a pole barn on the outside, but all house on the inside. I was able to do almost all the work myself. It's actually a wonderful way to build a house yourself. The roof is supported with trusses, so you don't have any load bearing walls to contend with. The exterior walls end up having 7" of insulation because of the 6x6 posts + the 2x4 horizontal haning rails for the metal siding.
That's very cool. My folks did the same thing in SW Minnesota. They built a nice two story house in the short end of a 80 x 50' Lester building. Inside, the house looks just like any other contemporary construction and it is extremely energy efficient. I'm a little bit jealous of their setup.
