New Holland 273 baler?

I just got a new holland 273 and it has the standard pickup head i am worried that it will have trouble with 3rd cutting with picking up the hay should i try to find a super sweep head for it or no?

I have an older 268 New Holland baler with the standard pickup. The last cutting last year was pretty short (6-8" maybe) and it did fine, left very little in the field.

One more question can i buy a new long tongue for my baler and 3 joint pto shaft?

I have two of these. You cannot feed them too fast. Make sure you are running at full pro speed and thensome. If you are having problems with knot tying be sure the knighted are well greased. Over all they are A very good baler. Use it first before deciding to spend money upgrading. Parts are expensive

Thanks charley im going over it the whole baler to get it going for haying season. from the looks of it the only thing i think i migt need to upgrade to is the longer tongue and 3 joint pto shaft so i dont run over the hay but we will see what happens. Thanks guys

Time you get done swapping the pickup, tongue and driveline, you will wish you had bought those features to begin with.

Jeez, just saw all my spelling mistakes. Typed on an iphone late at night... Anyway. The balers are good. I have the longer tongue on mine. They work well and are reliable if kept well lubed. Make sure to trip the knotter when you are done, then loosen up the bale tensiona and pull that last mini bale out. Never leave it with a bale inside for more than overnight because you will start rusting the chamber and the bale gets hard to remove once it gets wet.
