I know it's probably considered bigger than a compact tractor but I was hoping somebody could shed some light on a problem I'm having with the neighbor's 3430 new holland blowing the fuse [ 25 amp ]. You preheat the glow plugs and you can hear it pop, go to start it and cranks but will not start. Any help would be great, or if you know of a site for the bigger tractors let me know and I'll try there. Thanks

Russ, all I can offer is generic electrical help on this topic.

I think I'd disconnect all the glowplugs and measure them to ground with an ohmmeter. If one has much lower resistance than the others, I'd replace it. You'll have to probably use the lowest scale on the meter because the glowplugs don't have much resistance normally, probably only two or three ohms or less when cold. The other thing you can do is to connect them one at a time to see if the fuse holds. When the fuse blows, probably the last one connected is the culprit. That method uses a lot of fuses. You might also just remove the glowplugs and look at them. The bad one could show up with just a visual inspection.

To add to what jinman said, once that fuse blows.. good chance that kills the injector pump cutout solenoid.. and that's why she won't start.

Jinmas method does blow a few fuses.. but it is a good way to find the defective part..e tc... fuses are cheap...
