New Holland 6020
I am new to the tractor forum world so I hope that I am posting this in the correct area. I have been fighting what seems to be some safety sensor issues with a NH 6020 cab tractor. The tractor will not turn over at all and has the warning display on the dash along with what looks like the PTO speed indicator icon. This has me leaning towards a PTO safety that is not allowing the starter to engage?

I have checked the fuses and the associated fuses are good but I will check a third time when I go back out to give it another try. The battery is sufficiently charged and also reads good with a battery load tester on it. I have traced the plugs that run down below and they look to be secure. I have unplugged them to look at the pins as well and re-plugged. I did also notice that there are an abundance of connectors from harness' that are not plugged in to anything. My guess here is that they manufacture one harness that can be used on several model tractors that have additional features. I remmoved the 3 pin connector from the yellow PTO knob and tested the operation using a VOM and that also seemed to test fine. I had the NH dealer in my area order me another PTO switch just for the heck of it and should be in today. Depending on what time that item delivers, I will most likely want to go and try the new switch.

Would anyone have had similar experiences such as these and what would be some key items to look for on my next trip out to the farm? Thanks in advance.

Hi. Welcome to TBN.

Make sure the levers are fully contacting the safety switches. I had a problem with the PTO selector lever not engaging the switch due to wear in the nylon switch plunger. A little adjustment cured the problem.

Also, check ground wires and make sure they are tight. There are several.

Others on here may know better than I on your machine.

do you have a floor mat ??? sometimes they can get under the clutch peddle enough to keep it from starting. If no then look at clutch safety switch or PTO safety switch

Yes this model does have a floor mat that is standard with these cab models. From what I could see last week, the PTO sensors look to be in a tight spot when I crawled underneath. All plugs looked to be attached and in good shape. It looks like there is a metal style removable hatch under the mat on the floorboard where your feet would normally be positioned. I will see if I can remove that to gain better access to these connections since it is difficult from behind/underneath.

I would have done this over the weekend but after removing the seat, the mat underneath the seat, and the metal panel to only discover what looked like the AC return for the cab, I was burnt out and needed a break from that project. lol

Hopefully the PTO safety is labeled and easy to identify. Not exactly sure what style plug (2 PIN, 3PIN, ETC) to look for.

Im talking about a mat that would be aftermarket to keep standard mat clean. I have a piece of carpet cut and have had it slide up under peddle. My NH is older also

Went out to take another stab at getting it going yesterday with no luck. The new PTO switch did not solve the issue however, the error code flashing was 14101 which is a "Contaminated fuel sensor" checked sensor connection and it was good. Removed filter and replaced which cleared the dash alarm but still would not crank. After considering the downtime up to this point and multiple trips to the farm we decided to schedule a NH mechanic to come out later next week to run through the tractor and get it going.

Are you sure your PTO lever is fully engaged. I was using our TD95D to checkout the baler and I engaged the pto to run it. When I shut the pto off, I didn't put the pto lever in the detent. When I went to start up the tractor, it wouldn't start. I thought my clutch pedal switch was the problem but that wasn't it. I looked at the pto lever and noticed that I failed to place it in the detent. When I moved it to the detent the tractor could be started. I don't know if your tractor has the same type of pto control but I thought I'd mention my experience with the pto lever.
