. This is a continuation of the post on the 48250 hydraulic cylinder that Rhino used on many of it backhoe attachments they made for others. As I stated I was told that this cylinder has been discontinued. So I researched, found, ordered, and received a New aftermarket Bobcat excavator bucket cylinder #7148268 that when stroked is .003 of an inch longer. I ordered the cylinder from Hydraulic Cylinders for 585 plus shipping. Was pleasantly surprised to see a made in America sticker on it. The cylinder is larger, bore is .5 bigger, outside diameter is .75 bigger and the rod is 1.75 in diameter. On the cylinder case end I had to grind two flats, removing .375 off each side and stayed a minimum of .125 below the edge of weld. The pin hole I was told were 1.5 and 1.375. Turned out the rod end had a brass bushing making it 1.375. When removed the hole are 1.57 +-. Found brass bushings 1 9/16 x 1 1/4 x 2 1/2 at Zoro. Either an adapter to go from 9/16 18jic fitting to a 8jic fitting on the new cylinder. I opted to have two short transition hoses made. Added six shim washer on the rod to bucket pin. The cylinder has a post I would assume for hanger for the hose, I mounted the rubber guts of a VW TDI motor mount to act as a bumper. I have since dug up four trees, the bucket does have more power to curl and cut/pull thru roots. This was definitely cheaper than a rod/head/kit would have costed plus the labor to reassemble and made for a much better application. I don稚 think the bigger cylinder will impact the backhoe integrity as the unit is easily pulled by the existing hydraulics. The cylinder was plenty of clearance from the boom and doe not contact it at anytime during its stroke
