Baled lots of straw with a NH 311 and a JD 336. I never noticed much discernable difference between the two. I don't know what the differences were between a NH 310 and a 311, but was told the 311 was a "commercial baler."
As far as I know, the 311, introduced in 1981, was just an updated replacement version of the 310, introduced in 1977, with an increase from 75 to 79 strokes per minute.

burnetma,

I started out baling about 400 bales a year. That was two years ago. Last year it was 3,500 bales. It looks like about 7-8,000 bales this year. Growing business, and seem never to meet demand. Does this help?

I want to thank everyone with the replies they have offered. I have several questions I will bring up to respond to the comments thus far. I have located a NH 315 baler which seems to be in almost new condition. Kept indoors, bales removed each season. Very little rust, and all appears "straight". They are asking $3500 for the baler, and of the 15 balers I have seen so far, it is clear to be a machine well taken care of. I am still looking....but wandering what folks think of the NH 315 given my expanding production.
