New Holland part cd\'s

Just wanted to let you guys know that parts books are now available to you on CD. 86900595 ag tractors, 40 to 90 hp,
86900597 ag tractors heritage edition 1965 and older, 86900598 compact tractors and lawn and garden, 86900606 material handling loaders backhoes etc. I am not sure on the pricing yet I had heard a rumor of about 120.00 per cd but not sure about that. There are others that also cover combines, larger tractors and haying equipment if anyone is interested in those part numbers let me know.

Re: New Holland part cd\'s

Thanks for the info, Spencer. I'd think $25 would be a lot more reasonable, but they forgot to ask me. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Re: New Holland part cd\'s

JD charges around $75 for their parts CD so hopefully NH will drop their price some if that is what they are thinking of charging.

They should give them away. Saves the parts guy at the dealership time. You come in or call armed with the correct part number, or at least narrowed it down some. Printing a parts book costs $$$. It probably costs more to mail a CD than to produce it. And the development cost is a moot point because that has to be done for the dealership ordering system anyway.

JD's parts book is available online for FREE!!!!

Re: New Holland part cd\'s

I guess really that is a bit too much. You know my dealer is only a few miles a way, it is not long distance so I can call them and get the part number. Besides, when ordering I really don't care much what the number is, I just care about having the right part. And if I make a mistake in picking the part number and it comes in wrong it is my part, well maybe they would take it back with a resocking charge. This way if the dealer orders it wrong it is his problem. The other thing is I bought a New Holland, I shouldn't have to buy any parts?? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Yeah right, tell me more as I am sure someday I will have to get something, maybe sooner now than later after making this last statement.

Re: New Holland part cd\'s

Maybe this will go the way of snowmobiles. There are several sites with part diagrams on the net. Very convienant. The closest (snowmobile) dealer to me has some of the worst droids working the counter, so I prefer to tell him what I want. It's much quicker than them trying to find out where they put the microfiche. He still screws it up from time to time.

Well....from my experience, I'm inclined to disagree (but not strongly). Once you scan and organize all the graphics images, and then hire programmers to build the interactive user interface, and then test and package the product, you have a considerable investment. Add to that the fact that New Holland is in the business of making money and I can see where a decent profit is justified. At the price of $120, I'll keep my paper version, but if I didn't have that, I might consider the $120 because all compacts are covered in that one CD as well as lawnmowers. If the CD implementation is not good...well, that's another story. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Re: New Holland part cd\'s

Guess I'd want to see how it works, for that kind of money. Better be a darn good user interface, printable pages, and such.

As to production, all NH dealers have these CD's at their dealership - or are supposed to. So it's kind of already produced, selling to the public is a bonus. For the big tractors & combines & such, the paper parts books run close to $100 already, but for the smaller items, $120 does seem like a lot. If you run a fleet, great. If you own one, you are getting shafted.

The other thing is longjevity. Keep the grease off the paper book, and your great-grandkids can enjoy seeing the primitive machinery you used. The current parts CD probably won't work in 2 more generations of Windows, and does it work at all on a Mac? Your great grandkids can look at the pretty colors in the light rings...

Re: New Holland part cd\'s

Well I never expected the price to create such conversation. I did get it confirmed yesterday the dealer cost is 90.00 on these about 120.00 list. You guys should not feel to bad they charge us 190.00 every month for our edition of the parts program and we dont even own it. This is basically a rental fee at least you will own it. I have been told it is the same program the dealers use minus pricing information.
