New Holland radiator @ $596.00

Don't let this happen to you. I poked a decent hole in the radiator of my TC 29D over the weekend. Just a bad chain of events involving a branch that I did not see that somehow got kicked up and punched right through my grill. Almost a surgical attack. New grill-just formed steel mesh-$151. Radiator was $596. Amazing! Although the whole thing was indeed my fault, it's hard not to feel a bit cheated by these prices. I really need to get serious about a large and strong grill guard. This CANNOT happen again.

Ouch ! If it was just the core of your radiator and the tanks are still good , a radiator shop could recore it for about half that amount , maybe less .

At that price I would have tried to find a radiator shop to repair it...
I just replaced a radiator on my old wore out car...
186K miles...
Cost was $265...
I thought that was high...
In my mind...
$596 is unreasonable...

Welcome to TBN ! Hindsight is always "20/20". I agree with the posts in this thread as to recoring your radiator. I installed NH's optional stock grill guard #719849056. It is heavy duty, easy to install, and pretty expensive (but cheaper than a new radiator if I remember correctly .). It has saved my grill and possibly my radiator at least once to my recollelction. Sorry about your damage . Jay

I just recived my new grille guard for my TC-45 yesterday. Cost $210.00 total, guard was $190.00 and shipping to GA was $20.00 from Corriher in NC. Not too bad considering the damage that could happen.

Thanks for the replies. I thought about a repair, but I had my doubts about the success and did not want to be down forever. I ask the dealer about a grill guard and they did not know much. They were going to look into it and get back to me. At least I have a potential part number now, but it may not work on my older 7308 loader.

New Holland has a book out that list all the dealer intalled options for the compact tractors. There is a lot of neat things that can help make owning a tractor more comfortable

$596. for a radiator??? Man I'll bet your tractor wasn't the only thing that was hot. Sounds excessive to me but "whatcha gonna do" otherwise?

Tell us more. How can I get this book? I saw a really nice mesh grill guard add-on on a JD 4320 along with lots of other extras the website never mentioned. I figured New Holland was probably the same way but hadn't found it ... yet.
