new holland recalls

I've seen some mention of a recall on new holland tc45ds. Does anyone know which specific models are effected and what the recall is for?

there was a transmission problem on some of the earlier hydro models. I think it had to do with the transmission jumping out of gear. If you call your dealer they will have a list of serial numbers that are effected by the recall. My 45d wasn't on the recall list.

It was the first 1500 larger Boomers with Hydro Trans. There were instances of jumping out of gear when going down hill with a load on the tractor. The deadline to have the repair made was 8/31/01, although I am sure they will be contacting owners who have not had work done. I received a letter on my TC40D. If you are the original owner, you would have gotten a letter by now. Transmission has to be torn down and a gear replaced.

Does any one know which seriel numbers were recalled? I just got a used TC40D.
Also, from that number how can you determine manufacture date. I understand that there is some sort of code reference to determine this?

Dealers have lists of serial numbers included in the recall. I suggest you check with the nearest dealer by telephone. That's what I did and my dealer's service manager told me my tractor (TC45D) was not part of the recall.
